I have the Pelikan M1000the, M805 and the other two sizes of the Souverän line and the nib of the M1000 is my absolute favorite! It writes smoothly and gives a lot of ink to the paper. It’s also a little bouncy although it’s NOT a flex nib! That’s how I ruined my original nib and I needed a replacement…..
The price on the nib was the lowest I could find in a trusted store and the service and delivery was also impeccable.
Pelikan M1000 nibs (at somewhat tolerable prices) are rare to find in India. And EF is rarer. Appelboom had them listed in their FPD and with the 20% discount was just the best price I had ever seen. The nib writes beautifully though it is more of a Fine than EF - which was expected.
But more important was the service. My order went into backorder, and Appelboom agreed to change the address if there was a need (there was no need ultimately). They kept me upto date with the status of the order and double checked on the address when the order was ready to ship. More than the nib itself, the service is worth highlighting.
I couldn't find the replacement nib anywhere in India and sources were quoting months to restock. That is when I found Appelboom and ordered it in EF size. I received it much sooner than I thought. Thank you Appelboom!
This review is mostly about the seller. I find this company very reliable, responsive and responsible. The prices are very reasonable. The nib is, of course, unparalleled! Of my over 100 fountain pen collection, Pelikan is my number one choice; the mostI have are high end Pelikan pens. I just needed some extra nibs, and this suit just fine.
It’s a beautiful nib that writes great. Very smooth and wet. My only critiques are that I wish it had deeper stamping like in the 800 nib. The stamping is not as clear on the 1000 nib. And also I wish it came in double and triple broads. But it's a great writer and nice to look at
I have a M1000 with Fine nib which is extremely wet, and hence I rarely use it for writing, so I have decided to order an extra fine nib for my M1000 as l assume it is less wet than my fine nib, but I am wrong, it is still very wet, I must definitely write at least on Rhoda 80gsm paper, it is very very wet, it is recommended to use drier ink like the Pelikan 4001s, if you are the person who prefers finer and drier writing experience do not get the Pelikan M1000 as even the EF nib is very wet, it is a gusher!
Got a default medium nib on the Raden release which was unusable. Swapped with EF which was promptly delivered by Mr. Joost and the pen is finally usable now.
I purchase this nib for my Pelikan Stressman 1005. I originally bought this with a Medium nib but swapped it our for a "Fine Nib". Nib writes fantastic and will buy another EF nib from Appelboom soon. Great Service, love Apple boom!!!
