And the pen itself is dualistic: it has both a balpen and a fountain pen side. The design of the Visconti Alchemy is a true piece of crafmenship. The magnetic screw caps leave the pen ''float'' in the snake ring on the cap of the crystal inkwell that comes with the pen.The Visconti Alchemy Black is limited to 38 pieces worldwide. The fountain pen has a 23kt Palladium Dreamtouch nib and uses the eyedropper filling system. One of the early explorers of the New World, whose namesake was bestowed upon North and South America, Amerigo Vespucci was born in Florence in 1454. First a trader then a navigator, his explorations lead to the idea that the places he visited in Central and South America were not, in fact, Asia. In 1507 a pamphlet detailing his ocean quests and published as “The Four Voyages of Amerigo” popularized the idea of his name belonging the lands he’d explored. Visconti commemorates the 500th anniversary of Vespucci's passing in 1512, drawing inspiration from the famous map of 1507, reproducing Europe and America with scrimshaw technique into the ivory resin cap and barrel. A limited edition of 500 pens in bronze, 50 in gold, in your choice of fountain pen with a power filler system and a 23kt Dreamtouch palladium nib or capped rollerball. One of Visconti's greatest areas of expertise is the filigree cut-out technique (called skeleton) that it first launched with the Uffizi LE back in 1993. The cut-out technique has been developed over the years since then. Pens like the Ripple were masterpieces for all collectors of fine writing instruments. Taking Inspiration from the myth and the ancient Greek mythology Visconti already created its first masterpiece in 2012 dedicated to the legend of Aracnis. Following this path comes the new creation: Daedalus. Daedalus created the Labyrinth on Crete, in which the Minotaur (part man, part bull) was kept. In the story of the labyrinth as told by the Hellenes, the Athenian hero Theseus is challenged to kill the Minotaur, finding his way with the help of Ariadne's thread. In Homer's language, daidala refers to finely crafted objects. And this is the origin of this unique Visconti creation. The cut-out overlet filigree is finely chiseled by hand and it represents the scheme of the labyrinth as well as the head of the minotaur. All the details are highlighted by nice spots of glossy enamel. The filigree wraps a very nice translucent shining sky blue resin. The resin has been developed from the Visconti experts and it has inclusions of real sterling silver dust to give the effect of the stardust sky overseeing the labyrinth landscape. All the metal parts are in solid sterling silver . The Visconti logo is enriched by a royal blue spot of enamel on top of the cap matching with the Visconti logo on the clip. Cap is easy to screw and unscrew as it is provided of four principles. Creating a new pattern is a job that can take to designers even months of work. Discover, Interpretation and to represent those immortal subjects is always an honor and it takes a very long work of preparation. Beside the cultural research that is always at the basis of every Visconti creation, the production side is often very complicated. Visconti's artisans can produce only one pen every few days, being all the pieces chiseled and finished by hand. The pen is a diameter 18 and has the famous double reservoir power filler. The Visconti Daedalus fountain pen is limited to only 388 pieces worldwide.   Click here for Visconti ink bottles. The great city of Mecca is the birthplace of Muhammad. Just outside of the city in a cave is where he received his first revelations from God, and thus, began the religion of Islam. The body of the pen is turned from shiny black lucite to create a shape reminiscent of the architecture of the Kaaba, the most sacred site in Islam. This cube shaped building located in Mecca predates Islam and was built by Abraham, the father of the Hebrew nation. The Kaaba was made of granite from the surrounding hills outside Mecca. Each of the four sides is scrimshawed with Arabic verses from the Qu'ran. They are Cap detail inspired by the Kiswah, an embroidered black cloth that covers the Kaaba. The rings evoke the stone pieces used to build the structure. The Visconti Mecca is limited to 622 pieces in honor of the year Muhammad and his followers migrated to Medina, also known as the Hijra. The name Visconti has been synonymous with luxury from day one. Right from the word go Visconti has been creating pens that are absolutely matchless in terms of their materials and accessories, from precious celluloid to delicate gold and silver inlay. For the first time in the history of writing, Visconti's Millionaire project has been inspired by the use of marble, one of the most luxurious materials in the world, as both a decorative and a functional element. Over 3,000 years, from the splendid buildings of ancient Greece, through the glory of the Roman Empire and the Renaissance right down to the lobbies of the world's leading hotels today, marble has always been used as a decorative element symbolising pure beauty, opulence and abundance. Marble, known as the "gleaming stone", had never been used to make writing instruments before now, on account both of the difficulties inherent in working with it and of its intrinsic fragility. With the assistance of the skilled artisans with whom it has the privilege to work, Visconti has succeeded in grinding marble to an infinitesimal thickness and at the same time it has brilliantly resolved the problem of the material's fragility thanks to the advanced technology developed in its workshop. Visconti Millionaire's cap and barrel are both made of marble carved out of a slab 3 cm thick. For marble to be used in the manufacture of a pen, it cannot have any cracks, it has to be structurally sound, and its marbling must be patterned in such a given way as to ensure that the pen enjoys uniformity. The marble is first sawn into square bars, then hollowed out internally, reinforced, turned on the lathe to the required size and finally polished. Thicknesses have been calculated to ensure that the pen's final weight is correct and that it conforms to standards of comfort for daily use. Visconti has chosen four types of marble whose specifications are best suited to the manufacture of pens: Portoro Black; Issoire Green from the Alps; Valencia Cream; and Rain Forest Brown. All parts servicing and supporting the marble are made of resin and turned on the lathe from full bars. To prevent breakage issues with such a fragile material as marble, Visconti's international insurance policy will protect your valuable writing instrument in the event of any and all kinds of accidental damage. Visconti will repair and replace all damaged parts free of charge.
