Sailor Manyo 5th Anniversary Yu Ink - 50ml Ink Bottle

For the 5th anniversary of Sailor Manyo inks, Sailor has developed a new line: Manyo Ink in Love. The "Manyoshu" - the oldest collection of Japanese poems in Japanese history - contains many poems on love. Every poem that has been selected by Sailor for this collection contains a piece of nature, which is reflected in the colour of the ink.

The Yu ink of the Manyo in Love collection is based on the following poem:

"As evening falls, I gaze at the clouds, lost in contemplation.
Thinking of my lover, who is like the unreachable sky, far beyond my reach."

The Tsuyu ink of the Manyo in Love collection is based on the following poem:

"Please don’t ask me “who is there?“
as I wait for you, drenched in the dew of September."

The Ishi ink of the Manyo in Love collection is based on the following poem:

"Even the small stones in the river, if you have tread upon them,
let me pick them up thinking of them as precious gems."

The Asagiri ink of the Manyo in Love collection is based on the following poem:

"Because we have only met vaguely, like the morning fog,
I continue to love you as if my life were about to end."

The Himeyuri ink of the Manyo in Love collection is based on the following poem:

"Like the star lily blooming in the thicket of a summer field,
unknown to anyone, my love remains a painful and poignant secret."

Sailor's Manyo inks range is named for 'Manyosyu', the 'Collection of Ten Thousand Leaves', which is Japan's oldest and most revered anthology of poetry. It comprises over 4,000 poems written over a period of 400 years by people from all walks of life from emperors to farmers. Flowers are particularly relevant in Japanese culture and 1,500 of the poems relate to them. Sailor therefore decided to name the Manyo inks after flowers mentioned in this epic, centuries-spanning collection of poems.

Each square glass bottle contains 50ml of high quality dye-based ink, suitable for use in all fountain pens.

Sailor pens was established in 1911 in Japan, becoming the first to produce fountain pens in their home country. They have subsequently built a first-class reputation in the manufacture of the highest quality nibs, with all parts made in their own factory in Hiroshima. Their flagship collections are the classic 1911 and boldly designed Professional Gear, all available with a 14k or 21k gold nib. The Sailor name comes from founder Kyugoro Sakata's British sailor friend who introduced him to fountain pens.
