Pelikan M1000

I purchased a green and black M1000 with a medium nib and asked for the nib to be tuned and smoothed. The nib is one of the smoothest I have. It also writes with high ink output; no hard starts or skips when writing fast.
The pen is very nicely finished and looks great. It is an intermediate weight that feels solid but not too heavy,
Overall, an excellent pen!

Pelikan M1000 green stripes M nib

This pen it's a classic masterpiece from Pelikan, classic design and classic green stripes finish. If you love fountain pens you have to buy an M1000.
The bouncy nib offers a completely different writing experience compared to the stiffness of an M800 nib and it's very pleasant to use.
I choose a medium nib and I found the nib wet a smooth enough, more like a broad nib than a medium one.
The pen it's very big but isn't too heavy and feels comfortable also for my small hands.
I like this pen so much that I ordered also the stresemann version and I can't wait for it to arrive but I would like that Pelikan release also a tortoiseshell brown version and a metalstripes version too, maybe one day...

A Pen Worthy of its Status

The Pelikan M1000 is highly regarded within the fountain pen community, and for good reason. Admired for its oversized, springy nib, the largest of Pelikan's Souveran offerings is well worthy of the admiration it receives. The fit, finish, presentation, and writing experience of this pen is truly befitting that of a luxury writing instrument.
Also, thank you to Appelboom Pens for accommodating my last-minute nib change request.

Pelikan M1000

This pen is a grail pen with good reason. The craftsmanship, build quality and pen/nib size rival the MB149. The nib is beautiful and bouncy with virtually no feedback. I chose the Fine nib which writes more like a fine/ medium. The nib was checked by Joost Appelboom and his team and I would say is a better nib than the one on the MB149. I can't think of a superior nib in my pen collection. I prefer the M1000 for 1:1 interviews or private writing sessions. This awesome pen will attract attention in the boardroom, so be prepared and if you are shy, reach for a Lamy 2000 instead!

This is one of the most classic and stylist fountain pens in my pen collections . The M1000 Black/ Green barrel is also one of the ironic symbols of Pelikan. Personally, I like it very much.
This is a very juicy pen. The 18 karat gold nib of Pelikan has never disappointed me in my handwriting which is very smooth.

Pelikan M1000 is a gorgeous fountain pen and it is very suitable for daily use. I bought this fountain pen with an EF nib in the US. They ship in this Pelikan M1000 pen in a very fast speed. Appleboom offers you a very beautiful gift wrapping and lower price. I only wait 2 days and get the pen in a very secure packaging. I am also appreciated with your customer service! They offer you fast shipping and high quality pen.

M1000 Fine Nib

This is a great pen. All the hype about Pelikan is true. The M1000 is a smooth (and fairly wet) writer. I prefer a medium nib, so I got the M1000 with a fine nib because it writes like a medium nib of most other brands. If you are not used to larger pens, the M1000 is not much bigger than the M800, and it is smaller in diameter than the Montblanc 149, although I like both equally.
I like the blue-stripe design of the M805, but it is easier to see the ink level with the green stripes, and its classics design is quite stunning.
Appelboom has terrific service. The pen arrived in the US in less than a week, and this included the time it took for Appelboom to tune and smooth the nib. I will definitely be ordering from Appelboom again.

This is my first Pelikan. My only regret is that I didn’t buy one sooner!
I am well along my fountain pen journey and have sampled pens from most of the Japanese brands and many of the European brands. I have slowly been gravitating towards larger and larger pens. I was unsure about the m1000 as many reviewers online mention the massive size. I’m glad I didn’t let this dissuade me. While it is the largest pen I own, it is not as large as I was led to believe. For my tastes it is perfect. The larger diameter section feels great in the hand and I don’t notice the weight when writing unposted as it is well balanced.
The appearance of the pen is stunning. The green, black, and gold go so well together. It oozes class without pretension. It is beautiful without screaming, “Look at me!” It has a solid robust feel that makes me confident it will hold up for a very long time. The etched finial and pelican beak clip add to the effect. I don’t get tire of looking at it and can’t wait to write with it.
Most importantly, the nib and writing experience are phenomenal. It wrote smooth right out of the box (as it should be at this price). The nib has a nice softness or bounce on the page that make all my other gold nibs feel stiff as a nail in comparison. It is quite a wet writer and puts down a nice bold line. My “fine” writes a slightly thicker line than my Sailor 1911L “medium.” I personally love the wetter nib as it allows the ink to show greater richness and depth. I’m able to get shading and sheen with a finer line from inks like Diamine Dark Forest and Robert Oster Lake of Fire. I bought the Edelstein Olivine to match the pen and it looks great and shades well even on lesser paper.
The only cons come from the size. The greater length of the nib and feed make it harder to fill directly from the bottle, especially if the ink level is at a lower level. The large feed and the way the nib assembly screw into the section make it easy to ink on your hands after a inking up the pen—the small gap where the nib assembly screws in and hide a little bit of ink after being in the ink bottle. Finally, the diameter of the section is larger than the opening on Diamine 30ml bottles. None of these are very hard to deal with, and they pale in comparison to the sheer bliss of the size of the pen and the smooth and wet nib. I will definitely buy more of the M1000 line if more colors come out. I am very glad I didn’t get the M800 as I would have been disappointed by the smaller size.
Add to all that the quick shipping (even to the US) and stroopwafels in the box, and you have a future repeat customer.

Everything a fountain pen should be

This nib is beautiful to behold. I have nothing to compare it to. It writes perfectly. Smooth and springy. It is elegant without looking like 100 other pens. It is distinctive but understated. I have no regrets. Appelboom deserves a mention as well. Best price I could find. I ordered the pen on a Tuesday morning and it arrived on my doorstep Wednesday afternoon. From the Netherlands to the US in one day. I was amazed! The wrapping was perfection. The treat that awaited me inside the package was a bonus. Thank you for a perfect pen buying experience and a perfect pen.

This is definitely a grail pen. It is big, bold and makes quite a statement in the workplace. Everything about it is top quality and well thought through. The piston filler system is the smoothest I have come across. The massive 18K nib is springy, massive, beautiful and has gorgeous scroll work. The nib just glides across the paper. Very smooth - especially with the Edelstein ink. The screw on nib/feed system is very user friendly too since it allows one to cleaning the pen thoroughly.
The Pelikan medium nib creates quite a thick line. It looks broader than a line written with a Japanese broad nib.
All in all, it is a solid pen that is certain to last for a very long time and will provide lots of enjoyment. I've certainly enjoyed writing notes with it.
