This is by far the most magnificent writing instrument I have ever used. It is smooth, flows wonderfully, very sharp looking. The balance is perfect. Dealing with Appelboom is like dealing with Bloomingdale’s or Newman Marcus instead of Walmart. Service is great, delivery prompt.

Beautiful pen. Functions and writes like a dream. Impressive size and very comfortable to write with even with small hands. The large flexible nib makes this pen special and presents a unique writing experience. It’s a very wet writer and just glides over the page. If you can fit it in your budget you won’t regret this purchase. Be sure to have Appelboom tune the nib. It’s worth the small wait. Great service and price.
This pen is comfortable to hold and to use for long periods even though it is a large pen, and I have average-sized hands. It is also easy to look at: the green-striped barrel is businesslike but not dull, and the nib is a jewel. My one complaint might be my own fault: I notice that the pen sometimes skips briefly on diagonal upstrokes, especially at the beginning of sentences. I might be holding the nib at the wrong angle or maybe I am not making contact with the paper. This happens most often when I am not paying attention.
Like the last reviewer, I took the plunge and acquired the M1000. I have absolutely no regrets. I love my M805, but I'm so glad I bit on the M1000. The nib is aesthetically and functionally gorgeous. It is such a good writer. My only wish is that they produced it in the Stresemann, blue/black and red/black colours. Then I would probably own four of them. :)
I finally took the plunge. As every one comments, it is the softness of the nib which is perhaps the outstanding feature, certainly in comparison to the much firmer M800. It is girthier, but note also the grip section is a bit longer than the M800 and I find this much more comfortable.
I have a fine nib, which when using Pelikan's Edelstein ink lays down a precise generous fine line. It wrote beautifully and very smoothly straight out of the box.
If you are tempted but have not yet taken the plunge - hesitate no more!
After waiting over a year, my Pelikan Souverän M1000 was delivered. I’m very please with the pen and in the process of bonding with it, and I already know this one will be a favorite for a long long time. The medium nib writes like a broad plus and the smoothness is a dream. The nib has a bit of bounce, but I’m not one to flex it, but it’s good to know it’s there when I want to give a bit of a flair at the beginning of a letter. I can see this pen being one that gets passed down to my son. I have many other pens, but this one rises to the top.

This was my first M1000 pen. Having previously used Pelikan’s smaller M400, M600 and M800, I had always heard the M1000 was a different writing experience altogether.
This is a large pen, but despite it’s side, I found it very useable and in no way too large or unwieldy. The sweet spot for me in terms of size is probably the m800 because I have smallish hands but I will pick up and write with this m1000 in a heartbeat because of the fantastic nib.
THe custom grind by Ms Hillier was, as usual, to a very very high standard. As requested, I submitted photos of how i hold my pen for reference. The resulting nib and writing experience is just superb. Unlike the old factory obliques which I found difficult to use and very position sensitive, Ms Hillier’s left foot oblique grind just sings! It writes smooth and great line variation and is forgiving. So balanced and enjoyable!
