My first Lamy and it’s a success!

I was always a bit snobbish about Lamy fountain pens because they seemed to be everywhere. The only reason I bought this one is because I loved the colour, but what can I say, I have been well and truly converted by this workhorse of a pen. I inked it up with Pilot Iroshizuku Yama Budo (a perfect colour match) and the broad nib worked straightaway with no teething issues. It writes incredibly smoothly, gliding over whatever paper I use it on. It definitely won’t be my last Lamy, that’s for sure.

Stevig en ergonomisch

De Lamy AL-Star is wat steviger en zwaarder dan de Lamy Safari. Ideaal voor wie net als mij houdt van gevoel van een zwaardere pen in de hand. Ze heeft de typische ergonomische pengreep. De kleur is net als op de foto, een paarsachtige tint tussen aubergine en bordeaux. Ik heb deze pen met een fijne penpunt gekocht, omdat de M wat the breed is voor mijn kleine handschrift. Ik ben linkshandig, en ik merk wel dat de pen wat meer krast dan andere merken, maar ondanks het krassende geluid, vloeit de inkt perfect.

Great Pen and quality service

After many reviews, I've decided to go for the Lamy Al star. The color resembles what was on the website. The nib writes very nice and as expected, with a hint of blue ink from the factory testing. Delivery was smooth and it was overall a pleasant purchase from Appelboom. Im glad to finally have found a trusted winkel/shop for fountain pens!

Great everyday pen

At first, Lamy AL-star design looked too big, too chunky, too modern... but as soon as I wrote with it, I changed my mind.
It's very comfortable, light and most importantly - reliable.
Trips in backpack, tossing into a bag, flying in the plane - nothing stops those pens from writing!
Another advantage are interchangeable nibs - can adjust pen to your preference.
Truly very good design.
