Bought the Namiki Emperor Urushi in MF. One of my most wanted grail pens and found that Appelboom had the better price. Even though the pen is a bit large, it feels great in the hand. So smooth and a delight to hold. This will be one of the pens in constant rotation.
Don't let the pen's size intimidate you - it's incredibly comfortable to write with, even for long stretches. As you'd imagine, the ink capacity is massive, and the nib is exceptional to write with. Filling via eyedropper is easy to get used to. Well worth the price, would definitely purchase again.
This is the champagne of fountain pens. The urushi lacquer gives the surface of the pen a beautiful depth of colour. Being ebonite, the pen is not too heavy, despite its size, and the eye dropper filling system means it can store more ink than you will ever need! The nib is simply stunning and writes beautifully. Don’t be put off by the size - which is huge - this pen has a balance that feels just right. It’s a joy.
This was a grail pen for me. I was pleased that Appelboom had it, and at the best price I could find. I am delighted in every way. It is a large pen, but I like large pens. It is a flawless wet writer and keeps up with me even with the flow of a double broad. Beautiful presentation. Highly recommend.
Amazing quality, incredible design and box presentation. To die for gorgeous nib, very wet (or less) according to how much vented it is. It is royal, regal, and definitely an emperor. The vermillon is of a deep, deep color, difficult to stop staring at it. Lucky for me it wasn't a long time from when I became interested in the pen and when it became available at Appelboom. Excellent service, DHL very fast, box arrived intact.
I purchased the Emperor in Double Broad. Took a while to receive, but it was worth the wait. Simply amazing. Thanks to Joost and his great staff. Highly recommended.
The NAMIKI EMPEROR URUSHI VERMEILLON is an absolute masterpiece. I carry it on my pouch but sometimes in my shirt pocket and it's a bit oversized for it but just to keep lokking a this gorgeous pen gives me so much joy. Wrting with it is delightful. Cannot describe it in more words!

This Namikk Emperor writes spectacularly! It's wonderful to use. The only niggling complaint I have is that the vermillion body does have noticeable grayish streaks in it which the vermillion custom urushi did not have. I guess that's the occasional cost of handmade!
