The Aurora 88 Unica Nera, like many Aurora pens, is surprisingly lightweight. I bought mine with an extra fine nib and it wrote well from the start. Ink flow is moderate and the ink capacity is quite large for a pen this size. Plus, it is a piston filler and the ink filling mechanism is among the smoothest I’ve seen. The writing experience is somewhat similar to a MontBlanc in the sense that there is some feedback but it is never scratchy. The all-black design is very understated. All told, the size, ink capacity, and the stealthy, simple design aesthetics all make the Unica Nera a perfect pen to carry around every day. The only downside is its price. It generally goes for $585 or higher but I got it at Appelboom on one of the Blue Monday special for an incredible $370!

The Aurora 88 is a classic. The Black version w 14K extra-fine nib writes with "exacting smoothness." The nib in particular has a nice stiffness for fine lines, yet with pressure can broaden to impart a heavier imprint. The piston fill works very well, with the pen holding a great volume if ink, The clip is a great feature and is robust as well as artful. A must in one's collection

If you do not have an all black Fountain pen then this is a must have. This comes with the best Aurora nib, perfect light design and an elegant look. What more would you've asked for? Appelboom Penen prices are the best and so is the service. The owner Mr.Joost is super helpful and is always ready to answer questions.
