I'm very happy with this gold nib as a replacement for the old steel nib of my pelikan pen. Expensive, but the writing experience is really worth it, very smooth. The bicolor gold design is perfect, it makes me happy every time I use my pen. The EF is perfect for me for every day writing.
I was happy with the steel nib on my Pelikan M200 and wondered whether I'd really notice a difference if I got the 14k. I do. The 14k is smoother and wetter. Every nib is different, perhaps, but I'm glad I made the swap. The more I write with the 14k, the more I like it. One thing to note: the 14k writes broader. My 14k nib in fine writes as broad as my steel nib in medium.
The Pelikan gold nibs are beautiful, I bought three extra fine gold nibs for my m200s as the gold nibs are softer and smoother than the steel nibs. Surprisingly, the extra fine gold nib does not scratch on any paper because it is very wet.
I have mixed feelings about this nib. The looks are gorgeous, no doubt about it.
I thought that extra fine will be more fine than this. But I suppose the shape of the nib is partly to blame. It is shaped like a ball. There is one very little part at tip of the nib that needs to be placed on paper and then the line could be very fine. I should get a better lupe to find out about that.
But what was disappointing is that nib scratches a bit when pulled to the left. Hoped it would perform better than that. I can see why others have given high marks. I would also if not for that scratchy part.
At first I will like to thank Joost sir and his team for the superfast delivery ... Basically I bought two ef 14k nibs to upgrade the steel nibs of my m200 black and m205 green demonstrator...And I was basically amazed by the smoothness of the ef nib...And the nibs are true to their grade ...And in one word both the nibs are just fantastic...Hats off too pelikan ....

Whether new or vintage, this manufacturer delivers, each & every time, & my latest acquisition from Appelboom, is without exception, superb. The nib designation is fractionally broader than described, but that said, does not detract from the long-standing performance (& history) of this incredible brand. The M400 14K Fine nib purchased was the perfect accompaniment to an older 400 series model fountain pen, & wrote crisply & cleanly, straight out of the box. . This particular nib, bi-coloured, was aesthetically pleasing, & performed without issue - & in these times of uncertaintly, one can always rely upon a German household name in writing instrumentation. Superlative stuff - & thank you, Joost, for prompt delivery & after sales service.

I have been writing with Pelikan fountain pens for more than 20 years, especially the M805 series. The timeless stylistic elegance and the soft writing feel of the Pelikan nibs are unsurpassed for me. This also applies to my fountain pen from the M400 series, which I like to use on the go. I have already bought several Pelikan nibs from Mr. Appelboom and have always been very satisfied. So this time when I bought an M400 nib B. Shipping to Munich was extremely fast. The purchase process was uncomplicated and to my complete satisfaction. I can therefore only recommend Appelboom.
