Omas Paragon Grigio Perla RT Fountain pen

The Grigio Perla celluloid first came onto the market after production was finished in the year 1932. Although it was featured heavily on pens of the time, when customers tended to prefer monochrome pens, Grigio Perla really started to shine with the release of the Cinema pen. The Cinema was released to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the “birth date” of modern cinema in 1995, paying homage to the fact that film itself is likewise created with cellulose nitrate. Nearly thirty years later, the material can shine again. 88 units of the Omas Paragon have been carved out of this understatedly beautiful celluloid and, for the first time, has been married to black ruthenium plated furniture and nibs.

The Omas Paragon Grigio Perla Fountain pen will be available in the standard nib sizes. In addition to these however, Omas is offering the option to select nibs with the Kodachi grind. Created by Mr. Yukio Nagahara, the Kodachi grind allows the user to achieve many different variations of line width by changing their writing angle. These grinds have been applied to our nibs by the nibmeister Matthew Chen, who learned the technique from Mr. Nagahara himself.

The Paragon pen collection, one of the most classical Omas shapes, was created in 1930s by Mr. Armando Simoni. This collection, features a 12-faceted design and roller clip that were revolutionary for the Italian writing industry.

To complement this materpiece, Omas manufactures this collection only with the finest celluloid. In 2023, Omas has refined the filling system Omas’ modern refilling mechanism was designed to ensure that ink does not come into contact withnever touches the celluloid; a metal tube houses the ink chamber, which eliminates any chance of leaking or discoloration of the celluloid from chemicals present in some ink, ensuring the highest quality of the pen over time.

Omas was founded in 1925 by Armando Simoni in Bologna, Italy. The name is an Italian acronym ( ‘’Officina Meccanica Armando Simoni’’), which for nearly a century has represented quality in design, materials, and performance along with incredibly beautiful colors and patterns.
