Inspired by the Montgolfier brothers’ historic hot-air balloon ascent in 1783—witnessed by Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette—this pen captures the artistry, elegance, and enlightenment of that transformative era.

Artistic Craftsmanship Meets Functional Design

Crafted entirely from sterling silver using traditional lost-wax casting, and enhanced with vermeil accents, the Montgolfier rollerball pen is a masterwork of Italian craftsmanship. The cap dome, reminiscent of the balloon’s canopy, is adorned with zodiac symbols, draped motifs, and a central lion’s head medallion symbolizing courage and wisdom.

A sky-blue acrylic barrel hosts a sculpted golden eagle—symbolizing flight and regal ambition—while the finely detailed clip, inspired by early balloon ropes, elegantly connects history with innovation. At the base, a guilloché band encircles the cap, and the engine-turned silver finial mirrors the woven texture of a balloon basket. Each pen is individually numbered, adding to its exclusivity.

Italy's first pen producer, Montegrappa, began manufacturing pens in 1912 in its factory in Bassano del Grappa in Italy.
