Van Dieman's Fountain Pen Ink Diluter and Rehydrator - 100ml

Van Dieman’s Fountain Pen Ink Diluter and Rehydrator is a multi-purpose fluid for desaturating highly saturated inks, lightening the tone of darkly coloured inks and rehydrating inks that have lost volume and thickened due to evaporation.

Why use a Diluter?

Using water alone to dilute or rehydrate inks alters the pH, surface tension and viscosity, which affects both the writing quality and flow of the ink. It can also change the hue of the ink as some inks have a specific pH for their dye. This product is custom made to have the exact same chemical and physical properties of high-quality fountain pen ink. It improves flow, prevents feathering and bleed through, maintains dye vibrancy and contains a powerful broad spectrum anti-microbial that will extend the lifespan of all fountain pen and dip pen inks.

For ink dilution

Clean a small bottle and lid by boiling in water and let air dry. Using the included pipette, draw out 10ml of your chosen ink and deposit into the spare bottle. Rinse out the pipette and use it to add diluter to the drawn ink, a few mls at a time, stiring the ink and swatching after each addition until the desired saturation is reached.

For dehydrated ink

Using the included pipette, add diluter to your chosen ink, a few mls at a time, stiring the ink and swatching after each addition until the desired saturation is reached.
