The Rhodia Staplebound Notebook A5 features 48 sheets (96 pages) extra white 80g acid-free, pH neutral ruled (8mm) paper and a coated and waterproof black or orange cover.

In 1934 two brothers, Henri and Robert Verilhac founded a stationary company in Lyon, France. They named this company ''Rhodia'' named after the Rhone, a river flowing by Lyon dividing the Alps from the Massif Central. Two years later they start producing the first authentic Rhodia notepads.

In 1997 Rhodia was purchased by Clairefontaine and production transferred to Mulhouse, in Alsace, France. All Rhodia paper is acid-free and ink-friendly. Their bright orange covers make them instantly recognizable all over the world in the stores or on the street. The famous Rhodia logo dates back to 1932. Legend has it that the two Rhodia fir trees symbolize the two founding brothers.

Before I picked up the writing hobby again I only had experience with Kokuyo Campus/ Gambol paper for writing with gel pen/ fountain pen. To get these papers from abroad isn't too hard but the waiting time annoys me.Opposed to my Kokuyo Gambol A5 Notebook the paper is a little bit different (8mm vs 7mm, 7mm is the same as my used Campus sheets).
The paper feels smooth to touch and so far my pens glide over the paper very smoothly. I do get. a bit more feedback from a Penbbs 494 X KWZ Honey but I don't mind that (it doesn't feel painful or intrusive onto the nib so to speak).
The hardcover I think does provide good protection from unwanted liquids, it does lose to the Gambol line on the part that the hardcover can't stay flat on my desk (without paperweight) but again I don't mind that given the paper quality and price for this notebook. Rhodia does have 8 pages per notebook more than the Kokuyo Gambol so for my journalling this will last me at least 2 weeks longer.

These cahiers are great to use with a fountain pen. The paper is excellent for this purpose, and the laminated cover is relatively resistant. All in all a nice product with a 'poppy' orange colour that catches the eye.

These notebooks are A5 with a cardboard cover that are stapled. The covers are somewhat protected against water (light splashes). There are 96 pages of lined paper (no margins or headings) with no perforations in the last few pages and no “pocket” in the back. However, the paper is much better than the paper in the Moleskine cahiers. They are very convenient. Unfortunately, the size does not fit in a jacket pocket but you cannot have everything! In all seriousness, the black cover looks “corporate” if you want to use these notebooks in meetings.
The A4 version of these notebooks are very useful if you want o keep a journal in a hanging file. They are A4 and relatively thin.
Appelboom offer great value on these notebooks (both A5 & A4).

Het papier van Rhodia is uitstekend geschikt om op te schrijven en te schetsen met elk schrijfinstrument dat ik gebruik. De blocks gebruik ik al jaren, maar ik wist eerlijk gezegd niet dat deze firma ook schriften op de markt brengt. Het lagere papiergewicht in combinatie met een genereuze hoeveelheid vellen maakt dat dit product een instant succes voor mij is. Ik beveel deze schriften van harte aan.
