The pen is stunningly beautiful, the manufacturing quality is great. Its proportions make it particularly suitable for me as I have small hands; however, people with larger hands can also use it without issues due to its excellent design. Also, I hold my pens in a "monkey" grip for writing, always squeezing the part where the cap threading resides, and this pen has very un-intrusive edges and smooth threading on its surface, so it is super comfortable to hold for long writing sessions.

I bought the pen with the "F" nib - be aware that despite its "F" designation it still lays down an unusually thick line, thicker than even "M" nibs of other brands. Other than that, the nib is super smooth and gorgeous. I'm left handed, so I had to make some corrections on the nib angle and polish its surface for left-handed use, now it's perfect.

This is my 8th Pelikan pen, 4 from Appelboom.. I continue to be impressed by the classic design and quality of these pens and by the exceptional service from Appelboom. I highly recommend any of the Souveran series Pelikan pens in any size from 400 through 1000. You will not be disappointed.

The M405 is one of my favorite writers. It is a bit smaller than most of my other pens, but once I post the cap it is a great fit. It holds a very nice amount of ink, the 14k nib is very smooth. I'd defindefinitely recommend this to anyone looking for a smaller pen.

A beautiful pen with an amazing nib! I love the finish on this pen and how classy the silver trim looks. The medium nib is smooth and slightly springy which create a delightful writing experience.

Joost was great to work with. Excellent communication and customer service. The pen shipped within the time frame noted and it arrived to the US very quickly. I'll buy more pens from Joost!
