I've rather taken to this pen. It's not as red as it seems in some of the photos, but it varies according to the lighting it's in. The weight of the pen is down at the nib end which makes for a very relaxing writing experience. The cap does not post but the barrel is long enough not to need it. I find myself using it a lot and enjoying it greatly.
The Ulpia 117 Coral is a beautiful pen, with a color that closely resembles real coral—less red than it appears in pictures. It takes about two and a half turns to uncap. The metallic section, while elegant, is a bit too small to grip comfortably when unbarreling to refill ink. This often results in ink stains on my hands, especially when using very wet inks.
Despite this, the pen is delightful to hold. The nib is wet and smooth, and the barrel and cap exude the pleasant scent of ebonite. The material is warm to the touch and has a luxuriously smooth finish, suggesting it might be lacquered. Overall, I absolutely love the Ulpia 117 Coral—it’s a joy to use!
