First of all, shopping at Appelboom was stress-less. Communication was spot on and I was always kept in the loop (my pen had to have its nib ordered from Hamburg); shipping internationally was exceptionally fast too.
Now for the pen: it is a beautiful design, and the piston/nib rectraction mechanism is mesmerizing. The cap and finial are gorgeous beyond description. Whilst it appears small, the pen has some real heft to it and that makes it at once pocketable but also reassuringly 'present'.
Being a pen, however, what matters most is how it writes and here, again, it is flawless. I ordered mine with an EF nib which performs beautifully: it is smooth (not overly so), lays down a wet-ish line (thicker than a Japanese EF but well within expectations for a European nib) and, although definitely not a flex nib, it offers some bounce that makes writing with it a pleasure. I could not be happier. It is a bit on the expensive sign but, for once, I feel that the price is (almost) warranted.

This is my favorite fountain pen. It is small until you uncap it and extend the nib. Then it feels like a Montblanc 149 in length and width, except this pen is heavier and feels robust. The bold nib writes like a dream, soft and wet.

Appelboom had this pen arriving at my door in the United States within 5 days of ordering. Their price was better than I can get it in the U.S. Thank you Appelboom!

A superb writing pen. Using it with the BB nib is simply fun. It is such a beautiful pen and with its retractable nib so special. Being so compact and pleasant to use it is perfect for daily use.
Appelboom's service was - as always - outstanding and swift.

I am a repeat customer with Appelboom and Montblanc pens. This pen is shorter than most fountain pens I have handled but it has a substantial feel due to its solid construction. Its handsome design makes it a pleasure to look at. The beautifully executed mechanics used to extend and retract the nib adds a new level of experience to the use of this pen. Wonderful pen and extraordinary nib

This is a wonderful pen. I bought one and asked Appelboom to exchange for a BB nib and the whole process was wonderful. The nib has bounce like vintage nibs and lays down a wet and stubby line.

The pen itself is perfect size and weight (brass) but cannot be posted.

The mechanism is ingenious as the turning knob does both extend the nib and if pulled out reveals a piston. I have both this and a Boheme and Montblanc has really outdone itself on this model.

The Heritage 1912 is a wonderful pen, though it does not have stellar ink capacity. Exemplary service from Appelboom.
