The Diplomat Excellence pens are extremely reliable and the pen writes perfectly out of the box. I would recommend getting the steel nib. Diplomat steel nibs are great and write perfectly right out of the box. In my opinion, it is not worth spending twice as much to get the gold nib, although they also write well. The Marrakesh model is a beautiful warm dark brown color. The line width for the medium nib is generous and typical of European fountain pens, perhaps a bit thinner than the Pelikan M800 medium nib. These pens are well made and solid, and well-balanced. The cap closes with a smooth action that ends with a satisfying click. Highly recommended!

I have had this Excellence A Marrakesh CT FP for a little while now, and my appreciation for it only continues to increase. The balance of the pen is perfect, and the nib is superb.
