I have several hundred fountain pens and each has been carefully added to my collection after much thought and testing. Even among these carefully selected pens, there is a rarefied group that I consider best in class. If I had to own just one pen for the rest of my life, it would be a Pelikan M800 series pen. The M805 Black pen is especially refined and a paragon of understated design, with optimal form and function. The medium 18k nib is my favorite. There is very little flex to this nib, which means it is well-suited for long sessions of writing. Ink flow is also perfect. Pelikan's piston fill mechanism, especially on the M800 and M1000 pens, is the very best in the field, regardless of price range. There is a wide range of body designs that you can consider as well - from ornate designs like the Toledo to this M805 model, which is elegant in its simplicity. This pen is one for the ages.

Personally I like pens with silver trims and hence I was immediately drawn towards the Pelikan M805 in full Black with Silver trim. It is indeed a fantastic pen and a superb writer. Very comfortable in hands and offers good grip.

I opted for a Fine nib and it writes beautifully. Though there is a marginal feedback from the nib, by virtue of it being a Fine nib. As you use better quality paper, this feedback vanishes.

My interaction with Joost was quite pleasant. Always received quick responses to all the queries. Really appreciate the nib inspection and tune-up service.

When I received the pen, it was in pristine condition and I am very happy with the overall quality of the service as well as the craftsmanship of Pelikan pens.

I received my M805 securely packaged for its trip to Canada. It’s arrival was much anticipated and it did not disappoint. First it is a handsome pen, black and silver dressed for both attention and for duty. I inked it up with 4001 violet and proceeded to test drive it.

It is a dream in the hand. It flows and demands to be used, for words to keep up. Those around me awaited their turn and were equally amazed as they experienced scrivening like never before. Appelboom was excellent to deal with, and pricing was good, but again this not a cheap pen.

I now see that Pelikan has brought back the italic nibs - something for the future when the tuxedo needs a change of tie for another level of writing.
