The Toledo M900 has the same dimensions as the Pelikan M800 series of fountain pens. The engraved metalwork of the body is exquisite and the piston ink-filling mechanism and the medium nib are best in class. This is a very expensive pen, so I do not feel comfortable using it as a daily writer. Nevertheless, this pen gives me joy when I periodically take it out to write with it.
The pen is superb, and the handwork on the silver sleeve is exquisite. The gold-coated model stands out when it catches the light. The look of the pen is way better when one actually holds it in hand than in what one may find by scouring the internet for pictures. All in all, it is an excellent product. To boot, Appelboom offers a very good price and excellent service.
I finally pulled the trigger and placed the order in Nov2021. Waited 7 months - understandably, as each Pelikan Toledo barrel sleeve is handcrafted. Lo and behold; a true masterpiece! When the pen arrives, you open a beautiful piano black wooden box which houses the pen. Included, is a nice booklet to read about how the Toledo is made. Each pen is uniquely numbered by the master craftsman who created the 925 sterling silver sleeve. As with all Pelikans, it writes beautifully well. The Pelikan nib engraving enhances the Toledo's beauty. The Toledo is the same size as the 800 series and is a good size for most hands. The weight, balance and comfort - just perfect. Above all, the artwork on the sleeve - simply magnificent! This will be one pen to truly Treasure.
First, Appelboom has the best price for this pen on the entire planet. Second, everything about this pen shows high quality craftsmanship. The wooden box with its glossy piano lacquer finish, to the pen itself. It's a true work of art. Right out of the box, the nib is aligned and gapped properly. The nib is silky smooth, as are the filling mechanism. The artwork needs a loupe to truly appreciate the details. I waited a long time to get this jewel, but I'm glad to finally have it.
My Toledo is everything I expected from a Pelikan pen.
