The Metal Sleeve takes the classic piston-filler and trades the lightweight resin for a cool, machined brass barrel.

It drops the weight perfectly—giving it a substantial, anchored feel in the hand without becoming a club.

The pattern isn't printed or painted; it’s deep-etched into the metal, catching the light like a luxury watch movement.

It writes with the same legendary smoothness, but feels twice as expensive as it already is.

I highly recommend this pen!

Review Title: M805 Metal Sleeve

I was initially a bit hesitant about buying this version of the Souverän M800. However, I caught a good limited‑time discount from Appelboom and decided to hit the buy button — and I was not disappointed. The pen is absolutely gorgeous and quite unique in its design.

I should admit that I’m a big fan of the Pelikan M800 series in general, so I may be a bit biased. I chose the Broad nib, and it’s a wonderfully juicy, delightful writer. I can definitely recommend this model to other Pelikan fans.

If this is your first Pelikan, I would recommend it only if you really love the design and the look of the metal sleeve. If that aesthetic isn’t your cup of tea, you’ll probably be better off starting with one of the regular M800 models.

Review Title: Beautiful edition to the M800 line

I think the pens in the M800 series of Pelikan pens are a perfect balance of form and function. Among these, the special editions like the M815 Metal Stripe, and now, the M805 Metal Sleeve, are even better. because of the metal in the body, these pens are heavier than a standard M800, which I really like. They are still perfectly balanced and write flawlessly from the very first inking. The Metal Sleeve pen is beautiful and reminds me of intertwining DNA helices!
