This pen is absolutely gorgeous. The chatoyance of the resin is outstanding. Although oversized I find it comfortable in the hand and the piston works flawlessly. It lacks an ink window but I can live with that because although practical, it would spoil the beautiful aesthetic of the pen, in my opinion. My only gripe is the nib QC. Once again an Italian pen manufacturer does not have the ability to tune their nibs properly so that it works straight out of the box. Mine is annoyingly scratchy when moving the nib across the page from right to left. Unfortunately, I didn’t cross the check and tune box on my order like I usually do. Excitement at getting a grail pen got the better of me! As usual the response from Appelboom was excellent offering to fix the nib problem if I returned the pen but it shouldn’t be down to Appelboom to fix poor quality control by manufacturers. Leonardo, Visconti and other premier manufacturers please put more effort into quality controlling your pen nibs! This should have been a 5 star review because this pen is truly special but was let down by Leonardo’s QC.

Review Title: A beautiful – and big! – pen

As other reviewers mentioned this pen is relatively large, and the nib is relatively long, to keep the proportions.
So it is not the perfect size for small hands, but the design is beautiful – I got the blue version, and I like to think about it as "the summer sea version" – and the workmanship is faultless.
I got it as a birthday gift. The nice box and the ink bottle are the perfect accompaniment for occasions like this.

Review Title: Better than expected

When I order this pen after first announaced, with so little information at that time, and did not expect it is an oversized pen and also comes with a nice present box with a bottle of ink as well. Very please and happy special with that price range.

Review Title: Wonderful fountain pen

When I bought this pen I wasn't sure if I would like it as much, but the special design caught me when I saw it online. The writing experience is, even with the steel nib, excellent! Great pen!
