The Lamy Joy is a fun calligraphy pen. The body is lightweight and the nib writes smoothly. The 1.1 mm stub is rather round, so one might prefer the larger options if looking into gothic script. A great product for the price.

I went to their store in Boston, and got this as my first fountain pen. They were super helpful and informative, definitely coming back and shopping with them. Also, nice pen.

It takes a little time to get used to, but it can produce spectacular results, bringing out the shading qualities of my Pelikan Edelstein Topaz ink. The stub 1.5 writes very well but consumes a lot of ink, so that the converter is rapidly empty. Due to the shape of the grip there is only one way to hold the pen. All in all a good pen to enhance cursive italic writing for short texts.

I bought the 1.9 nib For me this pen is fun and joy. Because of the length it does not fit in a normal case. If that is important for you, you should consider to buy a Vista or Safari with a 1.9 nib. Or swap the backend of you Safari or Vista if you already have one,
