I had to wait a bit for receiving this pen because it was not in stock, but I did not regret it! Excellent writing experience with this steel nib, that really gives you the feeling of writing on paper despite not being scratchy at all. Overall, a very beautiful metal pen, super well made and elegant.

I bought this pen a few months ago simply because I was curious about the Haute Ecriture line of Caran d'Ache, and to my surprise, the pen turned out to be better than I expected. The stainless steel nib was high quality, and the feedback was just enough to warrant a pleasant writing experience. The build quality is sturdy thanks to its brass body. As a result, I brought it with me on my recent trip, where I didn't worry about it every time I put it in my camera bag. The only complaint I might have is the thin grip section, which may not be suited for everyone, especially with sweaty fingers, but the writing experience makes up for it.

This fountain pen is not for everyone, but if it suits your tastes, is an elegant choice.

The Ecridor is a narrow pen even when capped. Uncapped, the short section narrows even further, approximating the diameter of a woodcase pencil. The transition between barrel and section is not sharp.

The pen uncaps with a soft, smooth movement and recaps with a satisfying click. In the hand, the pen has a reassuring weight given its small size. While the pen posts securely, doing so may backweight the balance.

The construction is what one would expect from Caran d'Ache, including small details like an o-ring to help keep the barrel secured and a clip that is firm but usable. The pen also comes with a converter, which is a practice more higher-end manufacturers would do well to follow.

The shiny finish does make the pen a fingerprint magnet if that is a concern. The same finish makes for a smooth section but not one I find slippery.
