Stunning!

The Kingfisher is an absolute stunner of a pen. It has a wonderfully satisfying weight, suitable even for longer writing sessions. The resin is so striking, and somehow even more impressive in person. An absolutely beautiful addition to my small collection.

I was nervous about getting this online as you never know what you’re getting with this type of design but this is a gorgeous pen!! Appelboom was also great to work with as I had questions and got prompt replies. A fun surprise to discover their IG account- it’s hilarious!

Kingfisher Estie

I had been untempted by the Esterbrooks until now. (although I loved the pen cases). I saw Bungabox at a pen show and this pen really captures their spirit – from the lovely packaging to the detail on the converter; and a more interesting nib. Looks as good as the photos. Writes well - although I find the medium a bit fine for my preferences – so consider going up a size.

It’s an easy pen, comfortable to write with and beautiful to look at. I did choose the stub 1.1 nib and I’ve kept it inked up with shimmer inks, it can handle them easily. The service was excellent, they kept me updated at all times.

A Pen That Feels as Beautiful as It Looks

  • Review Add on: 30-04-2026

One of those pens I reach for without thinking. The colors are even more beautiful in person, deep teal with warm copper shimmer and the gold trim gives it a refined, almost vintage feel. It sits comfortably in my hand, and the nib is smooth with just the right amount of feedback.

Exceeded my expectations.

The Kingfisher is my first Estie. I had previously avoided the brand, but could not resist Appelboom's Fountain Pen Day discount, and this wonderful sparkling resin - it looks even better in hand. The spring-loaded cap seals great, and the Broad nib writes very smoothly. The extra details on the nib & converter elevate this exquisite, Special Edition.
