I am a fan of iron gall inks, but they are becoming ever more rare, especially inks that aren't just your basic iron gall blue/blue-black colour. The R&K Scabiosa is one of my favourite inks in the iron gall category, not only for how lovely it looks, I'm biased towards violet inks, but especially because just how much value you get for a few €. This ink is spectacular!
I purchased this ink for an Opus 88 Harmony Flower RGT that I bought at the same time. I was simply looking for an unusual ink color for this fancy-looking pen, aiming to match one of the multicolored spots on the pen body. Finding a yellow ink is not easy — I spent time browsing ink reviews to identify one that produces easy-to-read text.
This yellow is a genuine sunflower color, satisfying the readability objective (at least with the broad nib I use, for writing with sparse lines, as it is flashy). It is less "citron" than I had imagined; I do not feel the two yellows — ink and pen — match perfectly. The ink is fluid and wet, and suitable for eyedropper pens, based on my experience to date.
I would not have expected to find such excellent-quality ink at such a low price!
Love this. It's a very, very nice blue color with a little shading, even on a EF nib (TWSBI Obsidian). It keeps up the speed of writing. And Rohrer&Klingner is from Leipzig, An even beautiful (rebuild) city as their inks are.
De Cassia is een heel mooie violette inkt. De meeste violette inkten gaan iets meer richting purper, dus met wat meer rood in, maar de Cassia is in mijn ogen eerder puur violet. Dit is natuurlijk heel subjectief.
De inktflow is uitstekend.
Rohrer and Klingner inks are my favs and I'm biased a bit I guess :-), I got the Salix ( blue-grey) and Fernambuk (red) and both are so beautiful, Salix to me is like a tempest, stormy skies, and Fernambuk an autumn red, both are a bit 'dimmed', not 'screamy' and that's why I absolutely love them. Packaging was great and shipping quick!
Great color and shading, no flow issues or anything related. Also, the price/quality ratio is amazing: it is a 50 ml bottle for something like 5 euros!
This ink is amazing! Not only a fantastic color, but also great writing performance. It flows steadily and does not blot or feather.
In my opinion a perfect match for the Esterbrook Botanical Garden, as a matching example.
