It took some time to purchase this due to its low stock. However, the communication with Appleboom was great and very instant. I am very satisfied with my international purchase from Appleboom.
This pen's outlook is beautiful, and the function is also good. The nib quality is satisfying. The ink flow is not too wet or not too dry. The only thing that I hesitated to buy was its price, but ultimately, I like this pen.

My pen was inspected and tuned and arrived at my home in short order.It was securely packaged and the inner box beautifully wrapped.The pen was as I had hoped - beautiful to look at, comfortable to hold and a joy to write with. The "tune and smooth" service ensured the ink flow was perfect. The medium, two-toned nib is soft but a little firmer than the 823 ,which suites me just fine. I'am currently saving to purchase my next 845.This time in Prussian Blue.
Appelboom ground the nib to a very nice, expressive writing instrument, the Vermillion is beautiful. I also have a Custom Urushi and really do enjoy the feel of Urushi over acrylic, the pens feel warm and deep, a noticeable difference to me. Appelboom was great during the pen purchase and nib customization, I wish I'd discovered them many pens ago............
First, let me say how great the Appelboom team was. They answered several questions I had about the pen (at this price, you want to make sure you buy the right pen). Then, there is the pen. A stunner (in vermillion). It writes beautifully, smooth as pilot pens are (my nib is the fine nib), but a tad firmer than my custom 823, which is actually a good thing, as I like firmer nibs. It’s about as good as it gets. The pen girth is not too big, as I write long notes, a few pages at a time and girth pens are fatiguing when you write a lot. This is about as good as it gets. The pen makes me want to write more and my only regret is that I won’t be taking it on the road as I am afraid of losing it. But I write at home a lot, so that’s OK.
I really liked the tactile feel of the barrel material. The color is stunning. The Pilot's nib is, as always, excellent.

The red colour looks very vibrant and feels better than the plastic from other Pilot pens like the 743, somehow more grippy and less smooth but very pleasant. The medium nib is exceptionally smooth, I´ve never had anything like this and I´m sure you will be shocked the first time the nib touches paper. If you are searching for the smoothest of the smooth nibs - this might be it!
The only thing I didn´t like 100% is that certain parts like the grip section and the finial seem to be just plastic and not urushi lacquered.
This is truly the King of pens. He ts more attention and eye span than any other pen. So smooth that you can write miles with it and the red colour makes you an all time fan Must buy.
Wonderful pen. The threading is buttery smooth, so uncapping the pen is easy. The pen feels great to hold. It's a decent weight without being heavy, letting me write for hours without experiencing any hand cramping. On top of all that it has a beautiful body and stylus. The stylus catches my desk light and really illuminates the dual tones on it.
I like the Con-70 converter a lot. It's been very easy to use.
I got an architect grind on the nib and it's also perfect. Great ink flow, very smooth writing, and the nib grind was flawless. I'm very happy with this purchase.
The Pilot Custom 845 Urushi Red is one of those pens that feels special the moment you hold it. The deep vermillion urushi lacquer has a soft glow rather than a shiny plastic look, and it catches the light beautifully and gives the pen a sense of quiet luxury. It writes buttery smooth and just a delight writing with it! Definitely a must have for any fountain pen enthusiasts!
