I purchased the fine nib version of the Pilot Justus. I prefer the soft setting for the nib to allow some line variation, somewhere between a fine and slight medium fine when applying light pressure. This pen will mainly be used for line drawings and so far I am very pleased with my purchase.
It is a special pen. Looks interesting with all those grooves and a dial for adjusting the nib stiffness. Depending on the paper, you may choose a hard or soft set which gives you the ability to control the ink flow and have a rather bouncy writer. I would say it is worth the price.
This is such a unique pen and I am very happy to have added it to my collection! While it does not provide any liberal variation in line widths, it absolutely affects the writing experience, which I love. Of course, the customer experience from Appleboom was fantastic!
The Justus 95 is a reasonably priced semi-flex. It performs as expected and gives in its soft setting very good line variation.
I have it in fine and because of the 14k gold nib it also feels softer than I thought. It's not as soft as a broad steel nib, but it's much softer than a steel fine nib.
I recommend to clean it with warm water and dish-soap, before filling it with ink. (simply use the converter pump and fill it several times with the dish soap water and empty it) I didn't do that and the ink flow was sort of hit and miss in the beginning, meaning quite a lot of railroading.
Also, currently I am using inks from Diamine and Graf von Faber Castell, however I think the ink flow might be even better, when using a Japanese ink, meaning more line variation and less railroading.
The pen feels well balanced and sturdy, but not heavy.
It has become my favorite pen to write with.
In medium size, this pen is an excellent everyday writing tool (without pressure). Large size, converter (or cartridge), smooth nib. The nib provide a nice line variation in both "H" and "S" mode. I use the "H" mode on standard paper (it's drier) to avoid feathering and bleeding. The "S" mode is wet. I use it for copperplate on japanese paper or 90 gsm paper,

I have been truly impressed with this pen’s versatility. It is a great everyday writer, smooth and fluid. It has great balance, can be securely posted and has an understated elegant surface pattern which also helps in handling. It has classical lines and for me is just the correct weight for longer writing sessions. The gold nib not only looks stylish but glides effortlessly across the page and can be adjusted to create more flex if needed. A great daily go to pen.
Virtually all purchasers of this pen, me included, acquire it for its nib. The nib feels considerably softer than standard pilot #15 nibs and a bit softer than the #15 FA nib. It’s on par with the Falcon soft nib - in its “hard” setting. In its “soft” setting, I would rank it somewhere between the Falcon and the #10 FA nib (on the 912).
I had expected to use the Justus mostly in its soft setting (I like soft nibs) but somewhat to my surprise the nib in its hard setting also is pleasantly bouncy.
The barleycorn pattern looks elegant and the barrel has an excellent finish (as always with Pilot pens).
What I liked a bit less: the pen on account of its size is a bit on the heavy side (but then I prefer lightweights) and the ink flow is on the modest side; you may want to use the Justus with strong flowing inks.

The interesting and cool with this pen is the fact that you can change the writing and the thickness but also it is fits very well in the hand … The gold nib is very fine and is gives you permission to write delicately and easily.Also the design of the pen is extremely elegant. Charging with ink is fast if you are used to writing with a rechargeable pen…after this you have to wait few minutes till the ink are coming in the nid to can write but this is normal… you can also use ink refills if you prefer that.
So you have 2 options when you write and for refills and this is great.
Aftar this nice experience I want to buy one more the same and to and to engrave it!

Justus 95 is a beautiful pen. It looks great, feels great, and writes great!!!! My only wish is if the small patterns on it were sealed with some shiny lacquer like Urushi etc.
