Close to Grail Pen Perfection!

This pen is as close to perfection as I can imagine. It checks all the boxes from elegance, tactile feel, weight, dimensions, nib size and writing experience. I would have preferred it to be an eye dropper but it is easily one of my favorite pens. An absolute joy to write with.

First it is lovely just to hold the Namiki black Urushi pen body in my hand, it’s better than my other excellent resin pens. So sharp looking with the brass ring on the bottom of the cap; and the extra brass weight is comforting. The #20 broad nib really moves! Fast and wet but precise on Fabriano paper this morning. An essential pen for me.

Bought a medium nib size with very smooth writing feeling, similar to Montblanc 149 M but a bit softer, also easy to handle due to a smaller nib. The design of pen is simple but very nice, thanks Joost for service and fast delivery.

Fine urushi laquer with a Luxurious writing experience

Appelboom was kind enough to order me the vermillion version of this pen with fine nib. The vermillion red color is stunning and gives the pen a very seamless look; the pen looks glossy and almost wet. The pen is urushi laquered over a brass body, and the heft feels significant but very comfortable in the hand [even for average-small sized hands]. The nib is smooth with slight feedback which I found very pleasurable as someone who is Left handed. No hard starts, can write for long periods of time. For anyone seeking this pen, it is a worthy grail, a luxurious writing experience, very high quality; you won’t be disappointed.
