Beautiful wet writer, thanks to the Tune & Smooth offered by Appelboom. I have the same pen bought directly from the manufacturer and it’s quite a bit dryer. Fits very well in a shirt pocket with a phone right next to it.

This is now my seventh Pelikan Souveran pen and I continue to be very pleased with the quality of this line of pens. With classic good looks, this red striped pen with gold trim has very good ergonomics and writes beautifully. Its aesthetics and performance are excellent and it continues Pelikan's fine tradition of top notch writing instruments. Highly recommended.

A very sweet pen

Until I purchased this black/red Pelikan Souverin M400, my only Pelikan was the classic green and black M1000. In comparison, the M400 seemed ridiculously small, and hardly a pen that I'd want in my collection. Over time, I found myself picking it up more and more to write a short note, and, over time, I began to appreciate it for what it is. Its size is a actually a plus, as it seems to relax your hand, compared with the huge M1000, and the precision of the nib as it glides across the page is very impressive. This M400 reminds me of a small gem that you can put to practical use. Within a couple of weeks, I bought the M400 in blue and black. All three of my Pelikan Ms (the green, red, and blue) look great together on a small 3-pen desk tray.

Another beautiful pen from Pelikan. The red finish is a standout, and the nib is classicaly smooth and wet. The M400 size is better for someone with smaller hands, and may feel a bit small for someone with large hands. It’s similar in size to the Sailor 1911S
