My wife’s work purchased a Leonardo Furore as her long service award gift and she is extremely impressed with it. As it was my birthday she decided to get me something similar, but different.
I was unsure at first, as I have many other fountain pens and do not write very much nowadays. However, I am extremely impressed with the superb quality of this pen.
Whilst awaiting arrival of my new pen, we looked at various fountain pens of similar value available on the high-street (e.g. Cross, Waterman, Parker) and I am pleased to say they were no match for Leonardo.
I would like to conclude that Leonardo Momento Zero Hawaii is truly a sublime pen and writes beautifully. Leonardo pens have the ability to make you fall in love with writing again.
I ordered a rose gold version and requested a nib tuning. The pen arrived as scheduled and wrote soo smooth and beautifully. Joost was very responsive, and great customer service. Thank you.
For over a decade, I have been desiring a high quality fountain pen, one that would be a good long-term investment: it would deliver a fine writing experience, be well-enough made that it could write for many years to come, and also be a pleasure to behold. I am glad to say that the Leonardo Momento Zero in Blue Hawaii GT is living up to this hope.
I received my pen from Appelboom one month ago today, and have been writing with it regularly ever since. The pen that I was sent was exactly to the colour specifications that I had asked for, and all of the parts work excellently. The pen fits my hand perfectly and, with the 1.1mm steel Jowo stub nib, it writes like a dream. Having written letters and ink-test sheets with over 18 different inks, I find that my enjoyment of the writing experience increases the more that I write with this pen, I keep looking for excuses to write!
The Appelboom staff was extremely helpful (and attentive to detail), and their prices very good.
This Blue Hawaii is my first Momento Zero but it did not disappoint compared to the Furore. Both pens have the same section and similar girth but the little that the Momento Zero lacks in length does not affect handling or comfort. Yet a pen is only as good as its nib and the Broad nib is smooth as glass and is a Jowo nib. Some may find the nib too smooth but that could be changed in an instant with micro mesh or you could ask Appelboom to add a little feedback for you.
Appelboom service was excellent again and the pen is a delight.
It seems this pen was the pen of 2020. It is stunning, well made and lovely in the hand. My only issue was the 1.1 stub. It writes more like a 1.5 stub...not sure why, but it does. I use this pen everyday since I purchased it and love it.

I bought the leonardo momento zero hawaii after seeing pictures of it in instagram. It really is beautiful in real life. It has a faceted look that shines differently at every angle. It has a beautiful converter type filling system converter is beautifully made by leonardo as well. Most importantly the writing experience is smooth out of the box. Thin but still wet which is what I like in my pens. I opted for the free tuning from appelboom. So happy and contented with my purchase. Thanks Appelboom
Ordered with a broad nib that came well-tuned and slightly wet (but not gushing). The gold trim set off the teal/blue nicely, reminding me of a beach at sunrise, but I imagine the silver would be equally appealing.
Construction of the pen is top quality, as I’ve come to expect from Leonardo. I was surprised to see some translucency in some of the blue stripes on the barrel, which means you may be able to see part of the converter inside if you look closely enough. This doesn’t bother me but may bother some.
Overall I am very pleased with this purchase and would recommend it if the design appeals to you.
