I heard that Faber-Castell has the gold standard of steel nibs. I heard right. The nib, despite its no. 5 size, is butter smooth and has enough bounce to get some really nice line variation. Despite having negligible feedback, this puts you in control because of its small size. The nib unit can be unscrewed from the grip for easy maintenance. The pen is relatively small but nicely balanced unposted. It does post, but it becomes top-heavy by doing so. The grip is a bit on the thicker side but I did not find it slippery. The wood finish is top notch, but the steel grip, cap and the tail parts are fingerprint magnets because of their shiny finish. The clip is nicely designed and functional. The build is sturdy with a good form factor and with proper care, this will probably outlive most users. I wish it came with a #6 nib, but this is a pen that will rarely displease anyone.
According to reviews I had watched, this pen should be a wonderful smooth writer, and after I har received it, I was certainly not disappointed. I love the feeling in my fingers, writing with it, and I love the form, which fit so perfectly in my hand. With a pen like this, I am able to write lightly and a lot without my hand being tired. I is for me a very inspiring writing tool. I also think the broad nib gives exactly the line width of my preference. So I would certainly recommend it to others.
