I got this pen after I purchased the 149 in gold tone. I wanted to try the rose gold tone. I must admit, it is a beauty, I like the rose gold tone even more than gold one. The double broad nib is very smooth and I like the width and line variation. You cannot go wrong with Montblanc.
Came back to Appelboom for yet another purchase. This time a factory OB from Montblanc.
The pen and nib are great writers and as I wanted and expected.

Placed an order, 2 business days later the pen arrived (international shipment) with customs completed. Most excellent.
Nib is everything :) The fin nib is quite smooth and writes really well at almost any angle, and leaves a confident line. After two days of full use there is still ink in the reservoir.
The body and build quality is not the best. Lamy 2000 and Pilot Custom 823 are equally well built, though perhaps not as elegant. The Montblanc is quite "Executive", or someone may say Presidential.
It is an elegant and solid writer and reliable as you would expect from a well done German product.
It has all the credentials and reminds a little of Rolex in the position of the market :)
I like it, I appreciate the Appelboom pricing and service, and am very satisfied with my purchase.
I doubt many will fault this pen, and in some communities the price will be divisive. I would do this transaction again!
It balances well in my hand and I can write comfortably for a long time without getting tired. The F nib lays down a thicker line than for example a Jowo #6 fine nib, close to a medium. It is smooth but not buttery smooth like a Pelikan m600/800; it has a distinct pencil-like feel, which is my preferred type of feedback. The ink flow is generous but not exaggerated. Its piston filling system can hold a lot of ink.
However, changing ink is quite annoying because you cannot take out the nib unit unless using specialized tool, which will void your warranty. Furthermore, it is relatively an expensive pen. Whether if it's worthy it it's up to you. For me, this pen has made several other pens in my collection feeling "redundant" and I did not expect to love it this much!

The rose gold gives the pen a sense of elegance old. Buying from Appelboom is another way to make yourself happy. The whole process is a wonderful experience. I am hoping that one day I could visit Netherlands and will have to visit the store to see where the magic happens and to personally thank Mr. appelboom for sure a great service.

I asked Mr. Appelboom if he could send me a picture of the nib as I wanted to know how it would look like. He immediately sent me the photo with his phone. Who would do that? I decided to buy it, The pen is gorgeous, the red gold looks stunning, it makes the pen shine with beauty. The nib was tuned by Appelboom nib specialist, then pen writes smoothly and the double broad nib gives you a stunning line variation, not only that it brings forth the beauty of the ink (used Montblanc 80 days around the world) the shading is awesome. Besides the stunning pen, the package was as always done with care, Gift wrapped, which makes you feel you are treating yourself and enjoying unwrapping your precious gift. Having owned a Meisterstuck Ballpoint pen for a number of years now, I’ve always wanted a MB fountain pen but the choices were vast. Confused, I went onto YouTube and saw the Appelboom video (about 25 mins long) that provided all the details I needed to make an informed choice. Within an hour of seeing the video I went onto the website and purchased this 146 fountain pen together with a bottle of ink. The order was placed on the Sunday. Today is Wednesday (3rd working day) and the items arrived this afternoon. I’m really pleased with the pen and it writes perfectly, as expected. The wife also enjoyed the enclosed complementary biscuits. I’m a very happy customer and will buy from Appelboom again !!!
I already own a Montblanc Meisterstück 149 and Meisterstück Classique 144. Was considering a Pelikan 1000, but chose the Montblanc Meisterstück 146 Rose Gold and it has truly become the #1 Pen in my collection. And the best way to describe it is "the perfect pen."
It is a beautiful work of art, writes smooth & effortlessly (fine nib), has a large reservoir, is well-balanced posted or unposted, and the ROSE GOLD finish will either appeal to you as a rose gold enthusiast or because it has the appearance of heavy patina. It is stunning and stands out in the crowd.
It's not only my romantic #1, it is the most used pen in my collection.

The red gold trim and the black resin are an incredible combination. The “precious resin” does seem to be a deeper black compared to some Japanese black resin pens I have. The red gold is also unique and less garish than yellow gold I think. The extra-fine nib I got performs fine. It writes on the drier side with some feedback and is a true extra-fine. My Pilots write nicer but this pen feels better in the hand.
