What can I say about the Souverän M600 that hasn’t already been said? Superb attention to detail, unique materials for construction and a nib that has been made for one job...performance writing. What other company offers you a gold nibbed, self filling pen built to this level for such a reasonable cost? Amazing pen and I highly recommend it.
The M600 is a perfect mix of size, function and appearance. All of the fine visual details from the 800 and 1000 along with a beautiful nib if equal quality and design. The M600 size is a great complement to any carry situation without bulk, while being a joy to use!
The Pelikan :600 red and black stripes in broad point was a long awaited fp. I have an M815 and and M400 plus other Pelikan pens but this was my first M600. Like the others this was broad nib but unlike the others the nib was not smooth but scratchy and had feedback. Instead of trying to micro mesh this, I changed the ink from Diamine Poppy Red to Diamine Skull and Roses and the pen seemed to like this ink better. The smoothness is still not fully there but it is better and I have started enjoying writing with it. Additionally the MontBlanc bottle of ink was not sent with the pen but Joost sent that as an additional package. Although the pen does not deserve a full 5 stars I am giving it 5 stars due to Joost’s exceptional customer service.
The Pelikan Souveran M600 is an excellent size fountain pen for most hands. The length and girth of the pen makes it comfortable to hold and write with whether it is posted or unposted. Weight is good.
Thanks Joost and team at Appelboom for having this pen in stock and at this great price.
After some discussion on FPN (fountainpennetwork.com), I decided to get the Extra Fine nib. I chose the tune-and-smooth option, and included a request to tune the nib for maximum smoothness.
I'm absolutely delighted with the pen. I have to write on average quality paper much of the time, and this one feels perfectly smooth on all the kinds I've tried so far, with no additional tuning on my part. It's definitely a pen that I would put in the A+ category.
A couple of cheap, smartphone-quality pics (Sorry!) of the pen and a writing sample here: https://photos.app.goo.gl/TZAFqS4zNrVSLrFL8
This pen is lovely, both visually and functionally. My black/red M600 came with a medium nib. It wrote flawlessly out of the box. I own an M800 and M805, and wasn’t certain I would like the smaller M600, but I enjoy it enormously. The pen is simply excellent.
