My first gold nib was with the Lamy Dialog cc but that is a luxury chunker and the deployment was troublesome. The Lamy gold nib was a big surprise, absolute game changer, just needed on a more walkabout pen. Enter the utilitarian ubiquitous Lamy Safari. White Silver is a great marketing term for let's outdo aluminum with a gleaming coat. It works for me but only when paired with a Lamy gold nib - one of the most affordable gold nib pens on the market but underappreciated. Commonly, uncommon. I like this industrial stealth: smooth writing with a beater body.
As always, the Al-Star is a lovely pen to use, with its smart, rugged, modern appearance and total reliability.
This is my 23rd Al-Star, and my only quibble is that, if you place them side by side, the colour of this edition is is hard to differentiate from the original edition's aluminium finish, apart from its silver clip vs the original's black,
Silver body, definitely, white, not so much. That is why I give it 4 stars overall, but I've no intention of sending it back!
