I bought two bottles, the violet and the blue black and they are stunning.
The bottles, which are beautiful are the 62,5ml versions, rather than the 30ml ones on the picture, which was a wonderful surprise.
I was looking for a lovely dark purple and as picky as I am, this one is fantastic.
The Pelikan 4001 inks write dry, so if you're looking for quality dry inks, then look no further.
This colour is bright, vibrant and has displayed a bit of a red sheen when the ink is particularly wet.
It behaves wonderfully and is easy to clean out of a pen with water. I have had this in a TWSBI Diamond 580 for some time and there is no sign of staining in the transparent barrel.
Looking for turquoise ink? Look no further! Especially for the price, this is a wonderful turquoise!
The blue Pelikan 4001 ink is behaving good in all of my fountain pens but the color is maybe a bit dull compared to other brands. The Blue-Black ink I normally use in my fountain pen which I use for writing in lab journals and is of the 4001 range my preferred color. The brown ink is a nice color to write comments in reports of colleagues since it stands out really well.
Overall I would recommend the Pelikan 4001 ink range except for the red color, then I rather have the Lamy red ink.

Excessive? I prefer well-informed. I've been using fountain pens since 1972 and currently spend hours each day using them at work and for my own personal writing. Over the years, I've tried many different inks, but always return to Pelikan 4001 as a reliable, trouble-free dependable ink. I primarily use two colors: black for transcription of notes, and blue black for my commentary or free writing. I find the blue black color perfect for sufficient contrast and a delectable nuanced shading when using a medium nib, darker when using a fine nib. I find regular blues too gaudy, black alone too somber, blue black the perfect hue for musing. Looking forward to what thoughts lie waiting in ten bottles of ink!
I bought this ink for a vintage Pelikan 200 from the 60's that I restored. The color is really a nice shade and the ink is good and not runny.
Great ink for a good price!
I have enjoyed writing with Pelikan inks for several years. The quality is very good and the colors available are delicious. Highly recommend to match your Pellikan writing instruments!
