Great Pen

The Pelikan Souveran M400 Tortoiseshell Brown is a special edition pen that will not be available sometime in the future. This is the smallest in the Souveran line up and the thinnest in girth. I have large hands and with the pen posted it is quit comfortable. The section is a little narrow but still manageable even with my large hands. The brown barrel is a little different from the last series of tortoiseshell in that it has some gray mixed in the color. The older series was more brown. Its' piston filler system is excellent and the 14ct gold two tone nib is a joy to use. I have a broad nib that writes first time every time (no hard starts, skipping or overly wet ink flow). The Pelikan nibs however run a little wide when compared to other manufacturers nibs. The pen is a light weight but a solid writer.

I equate this pen with a pocket pen only it is not necessary to post when writing. Smooth writer. I have the fine point and it is nice and wet. I prefer wet writers hence the reason why I love Pelikan. Love this pen as a writer and it's a beauty.

Pelikan M400 Tortoise, IB

I must say that I was a bit apprehensive about ordering this pen. I prefer bigger pens, and I wasn't sure if the M400 would work for me. Still, the tortoise finish was beautiful, and it came with an IB nib, so I was willing to take a chance. It's a chance I'm glad I took. The finish is stunning, and the IB nib is astoundingly well tuned, producing lots of line variation while still being very smooth. It also provides some really nice shading. All in all it's a pen that's remained in rotation for a while now, and I can't see it going anywhere anytime soon.
