This exceptional writing instrument is more than a pen—it is a celebration of heritage, craftsmanship, and cosmic beauty.

A Unique Fusion of German Engineering and Japanese Art

For over 185 years, Pelikan has been synonymous with innovation and excellence in fine writing instruments. In this limited edition, that legacy meets the centuries-old Japanese decorative art of Raden and Maki-e, resulting in a pen that transcends functionality to become a work of art.

Designed by the renowned artist Yamazaki Mushu and his esteemed collective Hoshu-kai, based in Yamanaka Onsen, Japan, the Stardust “Hoshikuzu” captures the poetic beauty of a star-filled night sky.

Exquisite Raden Craftsmanship

Each pen is meticulously handcrafted using traditional techniques:

• A base layer of deep black Urushi lacquer evokes the infinite depth of the cosmos
• Three varieties of finely crushed abalone shell are applied in elegant vertical stripes
• The shells are carefully placed using a Funzutsu (powder tube) technique
• Multiple layers of transparent lacquer are applied and polished to a radiant, glass-like finish

As light moves across the surface, the pen shimmers with iridescent hues of violet, blue, green, and silver—just like distant stars scattered across the universe.
