Design Details

The Namiki Capless Raden Galaxy fountain pen showcases a array of multicolored mother-of-pearl chips scattered across the pen’s body, shimmering like stars against the Urushi lacquer, extending on both sides of the ring.

Crafting Process

The Raden technique was chosen to add radiant, luminous patterns to the Capless. This method uses the pearlescent inner lining of select shells, sliced thinly and cut into small fragments. These pieces are carefully arranged to create intricate designs, which are then sealed with Urushi lacquer to keep them in place.

Namiki uses only the finest Urushi lacquer, derived from trees carefully selected for their minimal yield—only a few teaspoons of sap can be harvested from each tree during a specific, brief period. This rare and careful process adds to the product’s exceptional value.

Each pen is coated with several layers of lacquer, polished using charcoal after each application. A special oil-free topcoat gives the pen a brilliant shine and a smooth, luxurious texture.

The Namiki Capless Fountain pen has an 18kt gold nib and uses a cartridge/converter filling system.
