Montegrappa European Community 50th Anniversary (2007) Fountain Pen Pre-owned

The Montegrappa European Community 50th Anniversary is a highly distinctive and exclusive fountain pen inspired by a special collection created by Montegrappa to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the European Community.

For this important anniversary, Montegrappa was selected in 2007, at the initiative of then Commission President Romano Prodi, to design an exclusive collection of fountain pens intended as official gifts for heads of state, members of royal families and other high-ranking dignitaries visiting the European Community headquarters in Brussels.

This edition was inspired by that exceptional historical collection and was produced in a strictly limited edition of only 500 fountain pens, crafted in sterling silver.

The pen features an elegant sterling silver overlay on the barrel, decorated with a repeating pattern based on the European Community 50th Anniversary logo. The beautifully chiselled clip features a laurel leaf motif, while the top of the cap is set with 12 genuine blue sapphires.

The traditional piston-filling mechanism provides a generous ink capacity and complements the classic character of this exclusive writing instrument. The pen is fitted with a partially glazed, platinum-plated 18-karat gold Medium nib.

This particular example is pre-owned but has never been used or inked. It is therefore in excellent, virtually unused condition and comes complete with the original box and papers.
