The Safari, since 1980, is the classic Lamy design and remains one of the best-value ranges of quality pens around. Tough ABS plastic construction with strong wire pocket clips. The fountain pen has an inkcartridge filling system (can be modified for use with converter). Stainless steel nib with several nibs.

Lamy is an independent family-owned enterprise which was established in 1930 by , former Parker employee, C. Josef Lamy in Heidelberg. I like demonstrator fountain pens. I buy LAMY VISTA because they are affordable, I use de Z28 converter for the beautiful red color, and I mount my LAMY pens with LAMY Z55 GOLD NIBS. The LAMY pens are great with their steel nibs, but with the GOLD NIBS they become outstanding. They become agreeably wet, write smoothly and you get some feedback and some line variation.
