Kaweco Sport

The Kaweco Sport is often seen as a series of pens in its own right, but it’s actually a collective term for a large number of different product lines.

The Kaweco Sport product lines have a wide range of pens that share a number of similarities, such as an octagonal shape and their compact size, which make them such great pocket pens. However, we also need to mention the features that make each series unique.

Kaweco Sport product lines

The Kaweco Sport comes in many different product lines with the Sport name, which vary in price, looks, and material. However, they all share an affordable price and a compact design that makes it easy to carry around with you.

Kaweco Classic Sport

The history of the Kaweco Sport starts with the creation of its first model in 1911, now known as the Kaweco Classic Sport. Due to its length of only 10.5 centimeters (when closed), the fountain pen was perfect for carrying around in a pocket or bag. With the cap mounted on the barrel, the pen reached a size of 13.5 centimeters.

The current Classic Sport model is based on the 1935 design and hasn’t changed much over the past few years. It’s clear that people like the classic design, and due to its popularity, it has not been out of production since. The Classic’s lightweight body is made of resin, has characteristic gold detailing and is available in various classic colours.

Kaweco Frosted Sport

Fresh and vibrant colours make the Frosted Sport really stand out, and they instantly fill you with a warm summer feeling. The modern pen has an icy fresh look that works remarkably well in combination with the milky, transparent plastic and tropical colours. Additionally, the Frosted Sport is decorated with silver details, which match perfectly with this modern and fun looking pen.

Kaweco Skyline Sport

The Kaweco Skyline Sport has a very similar design to the Classic, but this series has a more contemporary look. The silver details and lettering set it apart from the gold elements on the Classic Sport, and the Skyline Sport is available in bolder colours as well as the classic colours.

Kaweco AC Sport

The Kaweco AC Sport is all about sports. The dark grey woven carbon fibre inlay in a matte aluminum body creates a sports car feel with a distinct three-dimensional effect. Combined with its lightweight construction, the AC Sport is the perfect start for a fast and smooth writing experience.

Kaweco AL Sport

The AL Sport comes in elegant high-quality aluminum. The material looks luxurious and feels sturdy, giving the pen more weight than some of the other pens in the series. For a slightly different style, Kaweco developed the Stonewashed version. This version receives a special treatment, which gives the pen a worn, almost vintage look.

Kaweco Brass Sport

The Kaweco Brass Sport gets better over time. Indeed, the brass surface develops a special and natural patina the more you use it, which gives each Brass Sport pen a unique look. Thanks to its weight, it is comfortable to write with, even after long periods of time, as it’s not required to press the pen too hard onto the paper. Add extra comfort and style to your Brass Sport fountain pen with a choice of pocket clips in various materials, in a classic design (Chrome, Gold), or go for a retro look (Chrome, Gold, Bronze).

Kaweco Steel Sport

Made out of rugged and heavy stainless steel, the Kaweco Steel Sport lets you fully appreciate the quality of raw materials. The Steel Sport is, like the Brass Sport, a relatively heavy pen and it therefore takes little effort to write. However, unlike the Brass Sport, the steel pen develops its patina very slowly. The Steel Sport offers a variety of stylish clips, from Chrome or Gold in a classic design to Chrome, Gold or Bronze in a more retro style.

Special edition – The Kaweco Sterling Sport fountain pen

If you want the best that Kaweco Sport has to offer, the Kaweco Sterling Sport fountain pen is the pen you’re looking for. Made from solid sterling silver, it weighs an impressive 56g, making it significantly heavier than its counterparts. The pen has the same compact proportions as other Kaweco Sport models, making it ideal to carry around in your pocket or bag. The nib is made out of 14kt gold, produced by the German company Bock Heidelberg.

You can leave the material untreated to let the silver develop a unique patina through wear or you can choose to restore the material to its original state by rubbing it with silver polish or a special silver cloth.

Kaweco Sport fountain pens normally come with a 060 stainless steel nib, which is yellow or silver-coloured. However, it is quite easy to replace these with a 14kt gold nib or Black PVD steel nib.

Nib sizes

Kaweco Sport nibs are available in different sizes, depending on the material.

• Stainless steel nibs come in five different sizes: Extra Fine, Fine, Medium, Broad and Double Broad.
• The 14kt gold nibs come as Fine, Medium, Broad and Double Broad.
• Black PVD steel nibs are either Fine, Broad or Double Broad.

Kaweco Sport writing systems

Most Kaweco Sport pens come in four different writing systems:

• Fountain pen
• Ballpoint pen
• Rollerball pen
• Mechanical pencil

How to fill your Kaweco Sport fountain pen

Kaweco Sport fountain pens can be filled with ink cartridges or a special mini converter.

• To put a cartridge in the fountain pen, unscrew it at the grip and insert the standard Kaweco ink cartridge.
• A mini piston converter allows you to fill your Kaweco Sport fountain pen using a piston mechanism. You can draw the ink from the bottle through the pen with the converter inserted or through the converter itself. The second method ensures the nib and grip section of the pen remain clean. Either way, the system works the same: dip either the pen nib or front end of the converter in the ink and pull the knurled end to take in ink.
• Alternatively, you may want to use the mini squeeze converter to fill your fountain pen. This works roughly the same as the piston converter. Dip either the nib or the converter itself in ink, then squeeze three to four times to fill it.

For your Kaweco Sport you can choose from a range of different colours. Each model has its own set of colours. The Brass and Steel pens only come in natural materials, so there are no colour options available for these pens.

Kaweco Sport pocket clips

You can add an extra dose of comfort and style to your Kaweco Sport by choosing a pocket clip in one of the several special designs. Select a classic design in either Chrome or Gold, or instead opt for one of the retro-styled clips in Chrome, Gold, or Bronze.
