The design translates the world of early aviation into an exclusive writing instrument, combining mechanical details, aerodynamic forms and Cartier's renowned craftsmanship.

Design & Inspiration

The design draws inspiration from both the construction of early aircraft and the distinctive details of the Santos watch.

One of the most striking features is the 59 solid gold screws, individually fitted by hand into the streamlined body. These provide a direct reference to the visible screws on the bezel of the Santos watch, as well as to the construction of early aircraft.

The clip is elegantly shaped like an aircraft propeller, while the domed cap features an aerodynamic silhouette reminiscent of the nose of a historic aircraft.

Materials & Finish

The body is crafted from .925 sterling silver and finished with a refined brushed texture. The combination of sterling silver, gold details and aviation-inspired design gives this pen a distinctive and highly sophisticated character.

The nib continues the aviation theme and is engraved with an elegant propeller motif.

Nib & Filling System

The fountain pen is fitted with a finely crafted 18-karat gold two-tone nib, in Medium (M).

The cartridge/converter filling system allows the pen to be used with either standard ink cartridges or a converter.

The Santos de Cartier 1904 was produced in a strictly limited edition of only 1,904 individually numbered pieces worldwide.

The number 1,904 refers directly to the year in which the original Santos watch was designed. The individual serial number is engraved on the pen in the format XXXX/1904.

The pen is in very good overall condition, with only minimal signs of use and/or age.

Particulars

The pen is supplied complete with its original box and papers.

The inside of the original presentation box shows some ink marks/staining. The outer box also has minor damage. This concerns the packaging only and has been taken into account when assessing the overall condition.
