Review Title: Should have had the nib tuned

I chose this version of the Studio only because the rubbery section would provide a better grip than the metal section on other Studios, even though I guessed the matte steel finish would be drab. In fact, the finish was attractive--a better Bauhaus than I'd imagined.. The 14k nib had a nice spring to it but was more temperamental than I'd expected. Lesson learned: I should have taken advantage of Appelboom's nib-smoothing service.

The pen is attractive and went for this over metal section versions as I thought it would be less slippery. On the threads of the section there is a gouge in the plastic caused by heat in manufacturing process I assume. Seems to work okay for now, but does make one wonder about build quality.

Nice and light, easy to write with and the matte black finish greatly helps finger grip if you have slippery fingers. Absolute design classic - simple, elegant. Beautiful shape especially when capped and the clip is the best example of form and function. An excellent pen for the price.
