LOVE this ink such a lovely and rich black.

It’s a joy to use with my watercolour; it stays where I put it and is a great friend in my illustrations.

On some paper it can smudge but time must be given for it to dry FULLY.

The best pens write even better with Montblanc permanent black. The feedback noise is greatly reduced. Very Smooth glide across the paper. No bleeding or feathering. It's hard to use any other ink after discovering this ink.

MB Permanent Blue is a beautiful permanent ink, well suited for professional use. However, the pen should be flushed on a regular basis (preferably weekly) to avoid clogging.

Permanent Blue - Exceptional High Quality Ink

Permanent Blue is the new non-iron-gall formula which is much safer.

In short, a dry, royal blue color (gets darker with staying in the pen) with an extraordinary paper behavior, no bleeding, no feathering, relatively medium-fast dry time.

The single most amazing property of this ink is that it doesn't bleed through ANY paper be it Moleskine, poor copy paper and even napkins. In this it resembles true iron-gall inks perfectly well (except being blue and staying blue). The same is NOT true of the Permanent Black which bleeds more, is much wetter and with a very strong chemical smell (really strong). The black is very black however, so on high quality paper it's brilliant.

The blue ink clog pens after a while so very important is to not let it sit in the pen for too long (not more than 1 week) unused or else, cleaning it requires ultrasound baths, ammonia, and tons of flushing.

MB Blue Permanent

I haven't used all brands, not even tens of brands, but out of all the inks I used I loved MB Blue Permanent the most. 3 main reasons will let you love using it for everyday writings.
1- it could be a personal opinion, it is the most beautiful blue ink I've ever seen.
2- it doesn't bleed through, even on the regular copy papers
3- when I filled the converter I got ink stain over my finger (it is very normal), but the stain was removed in less than 2 minutes using regular wipe

The bottle did not disappoint the brand Mont Blanc, everyone who saw it was curious to what it may be, so much it is classy.

Good water resistance which was crucial to be used at work. The ink does not feather even on cheap paper but is dry. On the other hand the ink takes a long time to dry and even after a while some of it can be rubbed off, leaving a pale dark spot but the words always clearly visible.

The ink has a strong chemical smell, uncommon for a fountain pen ink, the smell would remind me of permanent markers.

Overall it performs well for a work ink. No feathering, resistant to water and it feels safe to use in the office. It sticks to the wall of demonstrator pens which is not ideal. It does the job, nothing fancy but not a fun ink to use but a must have for the office.
