Within a stone’s throw of the Montegrappa works – home of the oldest pen manufacture in Italy – is the heart of another industry. Grappa is the local tipple, and it has never been more popular and Montegrappa again honours the locals’ favourite beverage with a pen inspired by both the drink and the equipment that distils it. Featuring a shape that is classic Montegrappa, curvaceous yet sleekly contemporary, the Montegrappa Mule pen collection further displays its familial links with a cap top bearing the famous “1912” logo, while the nib of the fountain pen is embellished with a filigree Montegrappa pattern. The cap and barrel of the Montegrappa Mule collection are crafted in mirror-polished copper, further defined by a brushed silver-plated trim. The effect recalls the well-used, vintage piping and tubing employed in the process of producing grappa. Over the time, each Montegrappa Mule will acquire its own unique patina through handling by its fond owner, truly personalising the writing instrument. Easily recyclable without any loss of property, copper is a naturally hygienic metal that slows down the growth of germs. It is widely used in food preparation and health equipment, as well as in design and various artistic forms. The Montegrappa Mule Fountain pen has a stainless steel nib and uses a cartridge/converter filling system. Using its modern classic, the Fortuna, as the base for an all-new model, Italy’s most revered manufacturer of writing instruments, Montegrappa, has released its second “mule”. Following the copper-clad Mule, launched last year and named after the famous cocktail, is the Silver Mule, an icy-cool, sleek alternative to the fiery warmth of its predecessor.Entirely silver-plated, the Silver Mule offers a uniquely tactile experience, as its complete surface area – cap, body and the trim – has been vertically brushed and thus afforded a whiff of antiquity. This complements the clean, minimalist form, which recalls spacecraft of 1950s science fiction book covers and dream architecture of the 1930s. This marriage of modern and retro endows the Silver Mule with unisex appeal, a blissful combination of both feminine and masculine qualities. The Montegrappa Mule Fountain pen has a stainless steel nib and uses a cartridge/converter filling system.Italy's first pen producer, Montegrappa, began manufacturing pens in 1912 in its factory in Bassano del Grappa in Italy. Montegrappa’s kinship with Ernest Hemingway extends back to 1918, when the young writer’s service with the American Red Cross saw him stationed on the same estate as our historic factory. The final Battle of Monte Grappa proved a formative experience for Hemingway, as it did for Bassano – home to Italy’s first fountain pen makers.  History will forever preserve Hemingway’s bonds with our hometown, just as his integrity and intrepid lifestyle remain enshrined in our spirit. Since 2016, Montegrappa has worked with the Hemingway family to explore the many layers of the legendary writer’s celebrated life. As one of the 20th century’s most enduring authors, few items come closer to the essence of Hemingway’s greatness than a pen. Now we revisit this long association with the release of a muscular new writing instrument. The limited-edition Hemingway: The Adventurer honours a key chapter of the Nobel Laureate’s life. His accounts of his travels in Africa are the stuff of legend – and provided the foundations for modern ideals of safari adventure. The Adventurer carries forward the proportions and all-metal exterior of the Hemingway Traveller (2017), but has been reengineered to carry Montegrappa’s top-shelf, piston-fill mechanism. An all-sterling silver casing is detailed end-to-end in African iconography, recalling Hemingway’s 1935 non-fiction work, The Green Hills of Africa. Cap and barrel segments have been micro-milled to blend tribal patterns with majestic motifs of African wildlife. Edition numbering elaborates on the format of earlier releases under the Montegrappa Hemingway imprint. 100 18K gold nib fountain pens and 100 rollerballs are complemented with an additional 200 pieces in a new 14K gold flex nib variant: 100 Fine and 100 Extra-fine.   Italy's first pen manufacturer, Montegrappa, began manufacturing pens in 1912 in its factory in Bassano del Grappa - a picturesque town along the Brenta River, which flows through Alpine foothills in northeastern Italy. Utilizing natural celluloid and precious metals, Montegrappa combines traditional methods such as die-casting with more recent innovations as low-relief engraving to form their precious art objects. Montegrappa is honouring the Grand Prix racing legend Ayrton Senna with a beautiful collection of fine writing instruments. The pens will be part of Montegrappa’s popular ‘Icons’ series of writing instruments, which pays tribute to globally admired cultu¬ral notables who have achieved greatness in a variety of fields, including music, movies and sports. Previously released pens in the ‘Icons’ series have honoured Muhammad Ali, Bruce Lee, Frank Sinatra and Elvis Presley. Ayrton Senna da Silva (21 March 1960 – 1 May 1994) was a Brazilian racing driver who won three Formula One world championships, in 1988, 1990 and 1991. Senna has often been voted as one of the greatest Formula One dri¬vers of all time in various motorsport polls, and maintains a number of records even 20 years after his death; from 1989 until 2006 held the record for most pole positions. Senna’s legacy continues thanks to the activity of the Instituto Ayrton Senna, which has been working to create opportunities for human de¬velopment to children and young Brazilians, in cooperation with businesses, governments, mu¬nicipalities, schools and universities. He remains a role model for the youth of Brazil, and an inspi¬ration for would-be racing drivers the world over. To honour Senna, in the year that marks the 20th Anniversary of his legacy, Montegrappa will issue a series of pens that encapsulate his spirit and his style. A yellow cabochon set in the top of the cap recalls the colour of his helmet, which was accented by green to match the hues of the Bra¬zilian flag. Engraved in a ring surrounding the top of the cap and the cabochon is the inscription ‘Ayr¬ton Senna da Silva March 21, 1960 - May 1, 1994’. Senna’s signature appears in flaming red on the side of the cap. The rings at both ends of the cap are engraved with tyre tread patterns. A pocket clip in the shape of an F1 race car has been fitted with its rear ‘spoiler’ bearing the ‘Senna Double S’ logo. The barrel ends with two crossed flags, while the three rings bear the dates of his F1 World Championships. The shape differs from the Montegrappa Tribute to Ayr¬ton Senna pen produced in 1995, while linking the pen to the original edition is the nib, with ‘Senna Double S’ logo. Supplied in unique boxes, the Ayrton Senna Icons pens will be offered as fountain pens, rol-ler balls and ballpoints in jet-black resin, in the Legend Series of 1960 pieces each with sterling silver trim, to mark the year of his birth. The solid sterling silver Champion Series with cap and barrel engraved in low-relief will be avai¬lable in a limited edition of 610 examples each as fountain pens and roller balls, representing his tally of championship points. To complete the collection, both the Legend and the Cham¬pion models are available in an exclusive solid gold version comprised of 20 fountain pens and 20 roller balls each, representing the 20th anni-versary of his legacy. Italy's first pen producer, Montegrappa, began manufacturing pens in 1912 in its factory in Bassano del Grappa in Italy. Utilizing natural celluloid and precious metals,Montegrappa combines traditional methods such as die-casting with more recent innovations as low-relief engraving to form their precious art objects.
