My wife prodded me into getting this not-so-talked-about LAMY model. I already had a Studio and thought the Scala looked a bit too much like it to spend that much on. But with that knock-out Piano Red lacquer and her samples, I ordered it on FPD. Its moved ahead of my two 2000’s and Dialog 3 as my favorite writer among my LAMY’s. I still like the Studio, it’s feedbacky (not scratchy!) steel nib is a delight, and the other gold nib models are no slouches but the fine gold nib on the Scala is a world beater, closer to medium, with a good bounce and line variation. The design is simple Bauhaus, not the World’s Fair/Jetsons/Space Odyssey/EPCOT Modernism of the 2000 or Dialog 3, and I must say the Studio has a nicer, unusual clip, but this one fits the utilitarian look, and works just fine. The grip IS metal, so can be slippery. but no complaints, this one’s become a favorite in my collection, and even though I also love my 2000’s and Dialog, this is now my favorite LAMY writer
