The title says it all. This is Pelikan's largest regular size. So if you like a larger pen, this is for you. I tend to favor a fine nib; however, I have Pelikan 1000s to be a bit broader than the size indicates. I ordered a EF and couldn't be happier. It writes a little on the wet side and is smooth as silk. Highly recommended.
This is a very attractive and stately looking fountain pen. The Renaissance Brown resin is reminiscent of classic tortoiseshell, the lighter flecks have a chatoyance that give it lustre without being flashy, While not offering an ink window or translucency, if held up to a bright light (like a pocket flashlight) it is easy to determine the ink level, It is no secret that the M1000 size is very large, with a corresponding large nib, which is slightly bouncy. I opted for the nib tuning and smoothing, and it gives a pleasurable writing experience. The combination of smoothness and bounce give a cushioned silky feeling as it glides across the paper.
This is an M1000 so the nib is bouncier than an M800. I got an F because Pelikan's nib widths are generally one to one and half times larger than other brands. I also had the nib tuned which I would always recommend for any purchase from Appelboom.
The resin is a pleasant coffee colored brown with marbling. It's not the most stunning pattern but looks elegant. The gold trim complements the resin well. The cap is slightly translucent which adds a touch of mystique.
The price is only a little more than a regular edition so this one is a good purchase if you already have other colors in this series. The piston is smooth and feels very high quality.
Got this pen recently from Appelboom in EF nib. Love everything about it but the most praiseworthy is the finish. Renaissance brown in M1000 is a great match. Nib is heavenly and as always Appelboom service was excellent.

I'm not a stranger to the M1000. I already have the black and gold and the black and green versions. Both pens worked straight out of the box. The size is superb. It's a comfortable design. The sound the plastics make, for example, when you cap the pen, has a satisfying tone.
This new renaissance brown version is no different. However, with this version, it's all in the resin. It is a dark honey brown, flecked with creamy, silver marbling. The only other version I'd look out for, if Pelikan were to ever make it, is an M1000 in tortoiseshell brown.
I pulled the trigger on the renaissance brown version right away... the 15% discount that Appelboom offered for submitting a review for a previous purchase helped immensely of course. It is an expensive pen. Nonetheless, for my taste, an M1000 in this resin is worth having.
The order comes like promised. In just one day I have recived it in Germany.
The quality is super good. One The most good pens from Pelikan. The Price was also in the acceptable range for such a pen. Iam very happy with it.

As others have, I ordered this pen as soon as it was announced. I received my pen within a reasonable time and as promised. This is my second Pelikan M1000 so I had an idea that the writing experience would be unlike every other pen in my collection. It is truly a pen worthy of its flagship standing. The nib is soft and responsive. My first M1000 is a broad and this one is a fine. Both nibs are smooth, comfortable to use, and with little pressure produce a surprising amount of line variation. The m1000 is quite large but is not unwieldy and is balanced, whether using it posed or unposted. The resin in the Renaissance Brown edition is stunning and the writing experience is unique and should be experienced to fully understand its character.
I ordered this pen from Appelboom the moment it was announced. I own many Pelikan m800 and 1 m1000 before. And because I have the m800 renaissance. So I decided to go with this since I really love the size. If you want a pen that will not disappoint you from first time to write with, then this is the write pen, what a nib, wet, and very responsive. I love that flexible feel in it, which I also notice it in my other m1000. Pelikan did a fantastic job here. Well done and can’t wait for more m1000 editions to come.
