A dream pen and now I have one. It has exceeded expectations. I have it with an M nib and yes, it is wet, but gorgeous. Buying from Appelboom was super easy - I'm in the UK and despite our mistake with Brexit everything was handled smoothly and the pen arrived quickly and beautifully packaged.
I ordered the M1000 in EF and love the pen so far! Pelikan sizes tend to be broader than advertised, so my EF looks more like a M on the page but that's what I was hoping for so I'm pleased. The tune and smooth really helped make the nib butter soft.
I never thought I would own a M1000 but somehow this beauty was calling me since the first day I saw it. I always thought it would be to big a pen for me but it is not. It's so well balanced that it is a joy to write with. The nib is BIG and mesmerizing and oh so smooth. Also shoutout to Anabelle for the perfect in-house service nib tuning. Just amazing.
I have been looking at this pen for some time now and watched so many videos and Instagram posts to get a better look at it and also in use.
I took the plunge and ordered from Joost @ Appelboom and so happy that I did.

I unwrapped my new pen and realised that it was everything that I had hoped that it would be.

This pen came out of the box and was so perfect I wouldn’t do anything to it if you paid me! The weight is perfect. It writes like a dream. Smooth, wet, no scratch and just the wright amount of feedback. I use it daily in my journal because I like it so much. If you want a daily pen that you don’t have to worry about it performing but it. Oh, and pictures don’t do it justice. It is gorgeous.
I adore this pen! It is everything I have imagined. The brown material of this pen with its beigey flecks give the illusion of ice cubes in a rich brown drink. It is just gorgeous and luxurious, especially with the gold trimming. To me, brown with gold is elegant and timeless, especially combined with brown leather covers.
But when you put this pen to paper, it leaves you speechless. Oh, my! It glides so effortlessly, with a little bit of bounce, as if a flex pen. It gives such a perfect line variation for my journals and every day writing to make it more beatiful. This is my first M1000 pen and the first in gold fine nib. I'm glad I went straight for the biggest size, because I couldn't miss the opportunity to have it in this gorgeous material.
This was also my first time ordering from Appelboom and won't be my last for sure. The customer service was amazing for delivering the pen to me so quickly to a vacation location I'm currently at in Croatia. I highly recommend!
The honeymoon period with this pen did not last long, not because of any disappointments, but because it already feels like a long-used, well-loved instrument.
I judge my pens by feel in hand, performance on the page, and eye appeal. The Renaissance Brown aced each category.
I think it well worth a slight delay in shipping time to choose the smooth and tune option.
Once again, shopping with Appelboom has been an excellent experience.
I was really excited when the Renaissance M1000 pen was released. I own the M800 version of the same design and it is one of the most beautiful pens that I own. The M1000 version is equally beautiful, and the spectacular, oversized nib of the M1000 is something to behold. Their writing characteristics are nothing like any of the other Pelikan models, which all tend to be fairly rigid with very little flex and line variation. In contrast, the M1000 nibs have tremendous flex and line variation, so much so that you have to remember that it is not suppose to be a true flex nib. So take care not to push it too hard when writing. They are all wet writers with generous ink flow. For everyday writing, I recommend the extra fine nib. I would get them while they are available because I suspect they will run out soon, at which point these pens will be double in price at secondary market sites.
It immediately became part of my daily rotation. I have a large collection of pens and with Appelboom’s tune and smooth it showed up as what can only be described as perfection. Not to mention it is more beautiful in person than in pictures. I have the M800 in Renaissance Brown as well and they are a perfect match.
