I received my Pelikan M200 in the Golden Lapis finish. This is my 18th Pelikan fountain pen. One of my favorite things about them is the spectacular nibs. From steel to gold, they are splendid writers. You can buy separate nib/feed units to increase the versatility of your pen. This particular pen is a lovely soft blue with golden flecks. Like my other Pelikans it is lovely to look at, easy to maintain and a delight to use. IMO, The first and best piston pen on the market.
This is classic Pelican-engineered reliability and beauty. The packaging is fitting for this 2024 SE Classic gemstone inspired M200. The piston filling system is smooth and reliable. The stainless steel nibs (broad for me) are smooth and precise. For those who may not know, Pelikan piston fillers are some of the easiest fountain pens to clean. The nib unit can be unscrewed to allow the barrel and nib to be flushed with a blunt syringe, and the nib unit flushed with a bulb syringe. Like some of the former gemstone inspired editions, this one has a gold shimmer included tastefully in the pen’s resin and the matching ink. The ink is the most shimmer-filled ink I have ever used. If you are not a shimmer fan you could skip the ink… or skip agitating the ink bottle before filling the pen. All in all, this would be a great addition to a flock. It would also be a great introduction to Pelikan fountain pens.
