To celebrate the release of Platinum Penʼs model, the #3776 Century, a series of fountain pens called “Fuji Five Lakes” was created from 2011 to 2016, followed by the “Fuji Shunkei” series from 2017 to 2021, which showcased the beautiful seasonal scenes of Mt. Fuji on the body of the pens using an advanced cutting technique. In 2023, the “Fuji Unkei” series was born with the concept of expressing that image using various decorative methods, inspired by the beautiful scenery created by the collaboration of Mt. Fuji and the surrounding clouds. As the second product in the series, we will be releasing “Kasumi,” which takes on the challenge of new decoration.

A new cutting expression inspired by Kasumi-Mon Fuji Unkei "Kasumi" focuses on the rich natural greenery that can be glimpsed at the foot of Mt. Fuji through the mist, and the cap and gripping section are finished in a calming green color. The barrel is carved to reproduce the Kasumi - Mon (Kasumi pattern) that has been seen on picture scrolls and folding screen paintings since ancient times. By connecting small circular cuts, we expressed the appearance of waving mist. This continuous yet irregularly arranged pattern gives a complex contrast and shine, creating a unique fountain pen never seen before.

“Fuji-No-Akatsuki” Ink for the Fuji Unkei series The #3776 Century Fuji Unkei series comes with a 20ml-bottle of specially blended Fuji-No-Akatsuki ink to commemorate its release. This ink is inspired by the purplish panoramic view of Mt. Fuji seen at dawn. Depending on the lighting, you can see a deep green reflection. It is similar to the way the surrounding trees gradually change color as the sun rises. Please enjoy it together with the main body color of the fountain pen.

The Kasumi fountain pen is equipped with a 14kt gold nib and fills with a cartridge/converter

The innovative cap contains a unique “Slip & Seal” mechanism that prevents ink from drying out in the pen for many months. 

In 1919 Shunichi Nakata started his fountain pen business, that would later be known as “Platinum Fountain Pen Co.” The Japanese brand is closely related to the legendary Nakaya fountain pen brand, where some of the finest fountain pens in the world are created. This expertise also goes into Platinum's own line of fine writing instruments.
